| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I didn't know where to ask this, so I just put it into here. I am engaged to a future professional pilot(hes a cfi right now finishing his degree at U of I). We are starting to plan our wedding for June of 2005. I want to find a way to incorporate aviation into our evening wedding without it being the entire theme. Any suggestions? |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Hey-are you P38's fiance? Let's see, weddings are my specialty, ideas: Write your own vows and word them not about aviation but about flying. If you used exact aviation terms many people might not have a clue what you are talking about, and it tends to take away from the elegance. So don't write something like "I know you will be there to push my thrusters and max my fuel ratio" (ok I obviously made that up) but DO write something like "I want to spend my life with you, soaring in the clouds, flying high, on the wings of love, etc." There are some elegant and some cheesy airplane cake toppers out there. I can think of a ton of different types of favors you could make geared toward flying. You could get little plastic wings or airplanes for everyone and attach a poem or note like ""Thanks for being part of our 'takeoff!' Wishing you many happy landings", a CD of every song you can think of that is some how flying related, here are some cute airplanes :http://www.bestweddingfavors.com/ind...amp;lang=en-us If you have a grooms cake, you could have it be an airplane, or even have an airplane cake at the rehearsal dinner if you have one. Or airplane cookies. You could show video or pictures of the two of you at the airport at sunset, or having some one film you taking off together in a plane. You could do your engagement picture/bridal shots on an plane or at the airport with a nice sunset. You could exchange vows in a hot air ballon which isn't exactly a plane but SORT of aviation related. You could get married at the airport for that matter, and "arrive" via a front and center landing instead of on the back of a horse or down a flight of stairs! LOL Find an invite/thank you card stationary w/ clouds on it. Instead of using a guest book make it a guest "log" more like a flight log book. You could do the ceremony in an airplane hanger. You could have "Jay Jay the Jet Plane" showing in a room for the kids so they give the adults a break! LOL I had butterfly shaped confetti to toss at my wedding, as we headed to the limo, you could have plane shaped confetti. Heck-butterflies fly so you could have a butterfly theme and still be "flying" related. You could have the men in the wedding party wear ties w/ planes on them, or have tie tacks of a plane. Here is a link to some aviation products: http://www.airsource1.com/catalog.cgi/GIFTS Aww, this is a cute pic: http://www.canadian99s.org/Melanie_groom.jpg For your bridal shower you could ask guests to each bring some fabric that has airplanes on it, and then sew it all into a quilt to display at the reception. You could have a weather forcast announced prior to the ceremony LOL!! I crack my self up! Seems like all my dh does is check the weather and then go flying! You could have your "aisle" look like a runway. Depending on how much money you have, you could hire a sky writer Invite everyone to the airport after the reception to watch you "take off for your new life together". Ok that's all I can think of for now. If I come up with any thing else I'll add it later. Good luck!! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | No, I am not engaged to P-38. My boy is not on jc. Those were some cute ideas. I'll have to keep thinking about it. He was thinking instead of having table numbers have the tables identified by airplanes. Who knows. We already have our reception site, a nice banquet hall at a club in the area. |

| It all depends on how cheesy you want to be. You can go totally all-out with a full aviation/airline theme, or just have a few little pieces of aviation. We had a small crystal airplane as a cake topper, along with a porcelein Celtic cross (both of which are Christmas ornaments that adorn our tree every year), and that was the only 'aviation' thing at our entire wedding! Suprising since flying is so much a part of our lives. One of our engagement pics is us together in uniform. Here's the cake, as you can see, the crystal airplane was not very big! You could 'pin' each other during the ceremony |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Congratulations Flygirl!!!!! now - the fun part - planning the wedding! Michelle had a lot of great ideas!! I'd almost go with something simple and show a slide show before the wedding with photos of you two and your planes...to some "flying" music... but again - that may be too cheesy since after all, we did have -Elvis- at our reception! haha [img:9cda4a86d0]http://dougandkristie.com/dak%20wedding/wedding%20day%20album/images/reception1_jpg.jpg[/img:9cda4a86d0] |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | That's hilarious!! The woman on the left in the backround doesn't look too amused! Kristie-I have to say-I designed a wedding veil that looks almost exactly like yours-I thought it was a totally original design. I have never come across a similar one until I just saw yours. Is it pearls or rhinestones on the bands? |

| We did a slideshow before our wedding. We did pictures of us throughout our relationship with the words to a poem I wrote (a couple lines each slide) and then thanked our families and bridal party; for the bridal party pages we posted a paragraph of thanks to each individual member with a picture of us with them. It was neat. I wish I could have seen it and had the prelude music playing in the background. Some place you might want to check out is theknot.com if you don't have a wedding planning website yet. They are phenomenol. And if you join the message boards, which is where I got most of my ideas, they might be able to help you. www.klenger.net/cewedding |

As far as the tiara, they're clear rhinestones and i got it off of the net thru ebay..the veil was separate, but if i had a chance to do it again, i'd buy the tiara with the veil since the veil was a pain in the butt to work with the tiara. buying thru ebay saved me a lot of money, but i made sure the choices i picked were from all sellers that got tremendously good feedback! Beautiful Photos Christine!! looks like you had a great time! I used theknot.com quite a bit too - that site is really helpful!! |

| Hello, I am new here and I LOVE weddings!!! I cannot wait to plan my own! I think a cute idea to tie in the flying is paper airplanes. Whenever you two leave the reception all of your guests should throw paper airplanes! (Of course not at the Bride and Groom!) |
