Oh my. I guess since I haven't had any bad experiences with non reving, that I didn't feel that strongly against it. But hearing that story Roz, I don't think I want to deal with that on my honeymoon.

Another thing I've been thinking about - how are we supossed to book a whole week or so in Hawaii this far in advance when we don't even know his schedule for September yet? What did you all do for your honeymoons? Did your hubby's get to take leave or did you just chance their vacation falling on that week?

Listen to everyone's advice- Never non-rev is you really need (or want) to be somwhere! Nick has a week off in September and we want to go to the Caribbean but we're pretty sure we're going to buy our tix!

Does Jeff get to bid vacation? Nick gets 2 weeks off and we know when it will be... of course they just moved his November vacation to September!

Yes, actually, he got 8 days off this year - 4 in april, 4 in june. He'll get more next year, but we wont know until the vacation bids for 09 come out. He'll try to bid to get all of it that month, but there's still no garauntee that it will happen.

I made the mistake of asking my great aunt for her advice on Hawaii since she goes there every year- shouldn't have done this since she's not in tune with our lifestyle. She's getting fed up with the fact that we aren't ready to book our room RIGHT NOW. I'm a little nervous about booking anything and then finding out he doesn't get the time off. Although it wouldnt be my first choice, it wouldn't kill us if he got vacation sometime in the summer and we only had a few days to "honeymoon" - just wish I KNEW.

We waited to book until we actually found out when his vacation was. He ended up having to do some swapping because he was actually awarded the week before our wedding! Xjet does their vacation week Mon-Mon - and DF only actually gets 4 days off anyway because it's his first year vacation (he was hired last July) xjet does have a nice policy though were if you have a trip touching either end of the vacation, it gets dropped. so you could end up with a couple extra days on each end.

I could spend a week in Seattle alone. Wine, island ferries, Salish Lodge!! (I used to host Twin Peaks dinner parties) Mt Ranier is awesome and the lodge there is outstanding. Mt St Helens is amazingly interesting--I was so stunned and pleased we went. You can also get a cabin outside the city for a few nights.
I wouldn't even consider SF or SD if I had limited time--maybe Seattle rain is an issue but, I'd be more concerned about spring break for any trip to Hawaii. Maybe you can consider doing the Seattle adventure for anoehr short vacation when you know you can nonrev easily?
