I got a dog!

This is the first dog that's belonged only to ME! I'm so excited! Probably not the best timing, since my sister is leaving soon, and I'm stuck watching her behemouth dog for a month...but I fell in love with this dog!

I visit the humane society alot to play with the dogs, and this one was just too cool. She's small enough for my apt (25 lbs), and REALLY cute! A terrier mix, 1.5 years old. I wanted to get a puppy, but this dog is already house and crate trained and knows a few tricks. She'll be just fine while I'm doing my 12 hour shifts...I don't have to worry about her peeing on the floor or ripping stuff up.

Her family had to get rid of her because their child was diagnosed with a lung disease and the dog's fur/dander aggrevated it. They wrote a letter to the new owner (me) though, telling me what kind of toys she liked, etc. She also gets along REALLY well with my sister's dog, their best friends.

Her name is Abby, and her middle name is "Hippo". I know, it's silly...but here's the story. Will went with me to the Humane Society to pick her up, and we were deciding what to name her. He was coming up with all this crazy silly stuff, but she REALLY reacts to being called Hippo!!! I'm a fan of the more human names (hence the Abby), but since she LOVES being called Hippo, I agreed to let it be her middle name! I think she's as crazy as her owner.
