| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Hello! I am new and thought I would introduce myself. It seems that there is a nice little community here. I am a teacher/sign language interpreter and my boyfriend of 8 years (we met in HS) is in transition from flying traffic watch to flying for a regional airline. I found this website in a quest to find other people that are or have been in the same boat as me. So, my boyfriend just got hired with a regional airline and is in training. I am super excited for him but I am working hard to get adjusted to not having him around. I am used to him being with me everyday. So, it is weird and a little lonely, but I know I will adjust because I love him. It has been nice to read that there are other people that have gone through the same things or are going through it, and that it all works out in the end. So anyway, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. |

| Welcome to the board! This is a great place especially because it can be hard for family and friends to understand what we go through. My husband is a CA at XJet and is based in IAH but we live in Cincinnati. Commuting can be tough but it is worth it to us because we have a lot of family and friends here and we don't know what we would do without them!

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Welcome aboard ASLhands (even tho i know your real name, not sure if you wanted it out there or not).... you have one of the those jobs out there that really has to be incredibly rewarding for you and yet challenging at the same time! heck, maybe you can teach us ladies a thing or two about sign language and how to interpret the deaf... how did you get into that type of job? Truth be known, i've always wanted to learn sign language...just hasn't been near the top of my priority list for quite a while now...but i'd still like to learn so i can converse with everyone! would also like to learn braille, why? cuz i'm a geek like that on the inside (just don't show my nerdyness on the outside). So, BF is working for Xjet? what base? I know everyone says you'll get used to it over time (heck, i say the same thing now that *i* am used to it) but it can get frustrating on trying to figure out just when will it kick in? I say, just take your time and take it day by day... everyday is going to be different as far as how you feel and feel free to post those feelings because even if we can't talk you thru it, we can relate and just listen! ![]() welcome to the addiction! ![]()

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Thank you for all the nice greetings. I am sorry, I forgot to put my name before, my name is Jodi. Kristie- Well, I am so much of a geek that I actually majored in sign language (deaf studies) in college. I really do love my job. My boyfriend is in training right now, in Houston, so no base yet. Gna, my family is all in the LA area also, I went to high school and college there ![]() It is nice to meet all who have introduced themselves. I am happy to find a place where there are a lot of people who "get" what I am feeling. -Jodi |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Welcome Jodi! I am a teacher as well, I teach 8th grade Earth/Space Science. My DH is a CA for ExpressJet. Right now he is based in CLE but he is moving to EWR January 1st. He has been with them since June of 1999. We don't have any children yet (working on it! ). We live in NH so DH commutes. He has been based in all 3 bases and has always commuted. He really liked CLE the best but they are shrinking that base. He has barely been holding a line (#86 out of 90 lines this month) in CLE but in EWR he will be 80something out of at least 250 lines. Next month he was actually able to hold Sundays off. I don't remember the last time he was home during the weekend (except vacation).Glad your here! |

| Welcome Jodi- This is a wonderful site with some amazing women. I am also new to this board and am so glad that I found it. Family and friends just don't quite understand the life of an airline pilot, but the women here do. It is so nice to be able to talk with others who completely understand what you are going through! My name is Christina and my DH is an FO for Air Wisconsin. Although we are originally from Northern California we are currently living in North Carolina. I am a MOM (Master Of Multi-tasking) of 4 kids, ages 2, 4, 7, and 8. Again, welcome. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Hi Jodi! My boyfriend (of ~2 yrs) started at XJT in March of this year. It's been a difficult adjustment, but talking to others in the same situation has been a lifesaver! We live in the Baltimore area and he commutes to EWR. He's held a hard line for about 2 months now, so we're now learning how to bid and all of that fun stuff. How cool that you work in something you love to do! My girlfriend is a speech pathologist and always wanted to work in sign language. She just doesn't want to go back to school, lol. Welcome!! ![]() |
