Hi - just stopping in to check this place out.

I'm on JC right now and was invited over here by Kristie (hi, Kristie!), so I thought I'd see what kinds of things are talked about over here.

I was on military.com for a while, and I found that the "spouse and family" section tended to talk a lot about the husbands, but very little about themselves, so I hung out with the guys. I'm looking for a forum where we are brought together by a common bond (I don't like that word, but it fits, I guess), but one where we are not defined by that bond. Ya know - stuff about things that interest/confuse/irritate us that have nothing to do with the sig.others. (Or, at least, minimally. I can only talk so much about my husband before I start to wonder why the hell I'm talking about him so much. I mean, I did something interesting today. Why not talk about THAT?)

Anything like that here?

Hi Kristen!!!
It goes in waves. Most of the time we talk about general stuff... unless something really major is going on with some of the airlines that our DH's work for. Then we discuss it with each other.

I find this more of a place of women friends who understand the lifestyle that comes with being married to a pilot. There's a wealth of knowledge about the industry here, but also alot of friendship aside from aviation.

Hope you like it here! We'd love to get to know you better....

Well my dh isn't even at the airlines yet so I don't talk about him much at all unless I'm mad at him! LOL Welcome to the girls side!

Hi Kristen...welcome to the board! I was in the Navy for 6 1/2 years and know what you mean about military wives wanting to always discuss their husbands. A lot of my friends have spouses that deploy frequently and I understand their need to talk about them (especially when they're away) but it is nice to hear about what my friends are up to as well. Besides, I know what deployments are like...I did four of them...I want to know how my girlfriends lives' are going.

Anyway, I'm new to this board as well, but I really like it here. Hope to see you around!

hmmmm I tend to think we talk more about what's going on in our lives, our kids lives etc and deal with the hubby's aviation stuff on the side....but a lot of it has to do with just adjusting to the nature of how we live based on their careers (most of the time)...

but anyways, we're glad to have you here AND at JC....being at both definately gives you perspective on each one and how they're different...if you want to classify like that, that is.. haha

Welcome aboard!

Welcome! I just like to talk. So when I can't talk to someone or when my DH tells me I am talking too much, I come to the computer to talk! I am new here, but it seems most of these girls are like that!

thanks for the welcomes, y'all! I spend most of my time on a forum I got on about a year ago (kind of like Jet Careers, except the focus is writing instead of flying), but it's nice to have different/new places to go. Different perspectives, and all that.
