Hello all, I've finally gotten a screen name for the boards. I've been scanning them for awhile, and figured I'd jump into the posts for once! It seems as if the whole airline industry is going downhill, and it's so unfortunate for people like us (supporters of our siginificant pilot others) who love aviation as much as the people we are married to or dating! In our case, ASA was purchased by Skywest, and we are awaiting how the transition is going to affect us now that we are not officially under Delta's wings anymore. I feel sorry for Delta having to file BK. I'm livid that management has done this to all the employees of their company. I feel bad for ALL of the others out there who are having to deal with furloughs, pay cuts, etc. ![]() Anyways, off of my soap box. I hope to have more time to converse with the families represented on this board when I get the opportunity. I suppose a good time to do it would be when my 20-month old is watching The Wiggles! Glad to be on board, and I hope to speak with you all soon! Stacey

Hi Stacey and Welcome! So, your DH flies for ASA? Mine does too, he has been there a little over a year, and we live in Panama City. What does your DH fly? We will have to swap rumors about SKW buying ASA and how its going to affect things,,, really the only thing that I have heard is stuff about non-reving,,, but that's it. Nothing changing operationally as of yet,,, but we shall see. Don't be a stranger,, it's nice to see another ASA wife here,,, I think im the only one right Kristie?

Hi, Kristie and Jo, Thanks for the welcome. I am very interested in the upcoming Skywest transition. As for us, it may affect our daycare since my husband's parents travel from NY (mostly on mainline Delta) at times to watch the toddler. I'm hearing that our priorities may be bumped DOWN to S3Cs and I hope that does not happen. I also hear that our healthcare costs will go up some with Skywest's plan. As for the 22 70 seaters and the remaining 8 or so 50s, I think it will be pilot group against pilot group for the new jets. We're hoping Skywest guys will want to join ALPA and get unionized for the sake of all of our sanities so that we all can band together to upstage the whipsawing by mgmt. It will be interesting to see how this whole deal goes through. I wish the best for the Delta guys and I hope they stick to their guns against Jerry and co. (well, now it's the judge, I guess) with their pensions because they've worked hard to earn that money for retirement. Jo, how is your husband's commute from Florida? Is he holding a line yet? My husband can upgrade to Captain (been here since 2001) but we're holding back on it right now because the reserve system here is so ridiculously messed-up. It's not seniority-based, so CS calls anyone they want to to recruit them for trips and extends them whenever they want to. He could move to the 70 seater as an FO, but then it would be a while before he can hold Captain there (it's senior, of course). So we're just gonna wait.... All in all, we're hoping Skywest will open up some more domiciles here on the east coast and maybe Dallas again so that we can relocate out of ATL. A Florida/Tampa base would be nice...Skywest has so many "virtual" doms that I hope they do it for ASA too. If we get bumped down to S3Cs next July, it sure is going to make it very very difficult for some pilots and FAs to get to work in the first place. Other than an ASA/Skywest dog-and-pony-show that's going to go on next week, we basically know nothing new other than rumors. ![]() But I'll keep you posted!! Stacey

Stacey, Bill and I just moved here to Panama City this past July,, we were living in Orlando, where the commute was a nightmare. I was working at Delta Connection Academy in Orlando, and when I got laid off, we decided to come back here,, I was actually born and raised here but havent lived here in about 8 years. But so far, so good, the commute had been great. Bill got out of training last year in January, and was only on reserve for 3 months... we have been very lucky. With all the people that ASA has hired, he was acutually able to hold a line very fast. Beleive it or not,,, in the past year,, we have been able to spend every makor holiday together, including our birthdays and V-day! Not sure how it happened, but it did. The ONE thing that I have learned about ASA, is that CS is RUTHLESS, and I am soooo glad that DH is not on reserve anymore...... Keep us updated on rumorville,,,, it's always nice to have a heads up... Im very anxious to see what's to come. Us wives gotta stick together ya know!![]()
