Default New in Virginia!

Hi everyone! I'm Elise, a current student at Virginia Tech studying Mechanical Engineering and planning to graduate next May! My SO of two years is Mike, he just started training to be a first officer with Republic. He's in St. Louis for now, but hopes to be based in PHL after training. We went through a couple years of CFI'ing (and hated it), so Republic is very exciting!
Mike and I met at VT, and spent the past couple years long-distance, then closer together, now long distance again.
The past couple days have been rough for me while I re-adjust to the long distance thing. Hopefully once classes start for me next week it'll be easier! He called briefly earlier today and said something about registering me for travel beni's, does anyone know what kind of beni's I get with Republic? He wasn't very helpful about that - but he was also in a hurry- all I got was a "You can fly on US Air ID90". I'm so glad this forum is here!

Hello and Welcome! I'm Amelia and I live out in Denver CO. But I was born and raised in VA (raised in NoVA, and graduated from ODU). My husband and I met when we were working for ACA/Independence Air in VA. Then after he lost his job with them, he got on with SkyWest here in Denver. He is now a CRJ CA in Chicago.

Hope you like it here!

Welcome to the site! As you can see by my # of posts I've been on the board for a while (since my fiance was a CFI). In 2006 he was living in Reston VA; not sure how far that is from you. There are a few gals who live fairly close to you. We'll have to plan another meet & greet some time.

As for your bennies, not sure about Republic but I know somebody will chime in. Although I always thought ID90's are for spouses. Who knows- on Continental I'm Nick's 'travel companion'.

Good luck and welcome to the board!

Hi Elise! Welcome! My fiance flies for Mesaba and I get to leverage the travel benefits by being his "domestic partner." We just had to get some official Mesaba form notarized and then we were all set.

Hey... Welcome to Republic Airlines!! I guess I am the one to chime in because I know a few things about Republic.

With Republic, you get travel benefits on USAir flights and Frontier. They fly for both mainline carriers, although, your boyfriend will only fly for USAir since he is PHL based. You can fly on any USAir flight as standby, not an ID-90. If you do get on a flight (it's not garenteed because you are going on space available only) a small deduction is taken out of your boyfriend's paycheck.

If in the future, you have any questions about Republic, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Welcome!

I am doing the long distance thing right now and have since August. I am actually on the back end now because I will be moving to PA in March so that we are together again. I can't wait. Long distance has been tough.
I wish I got travel benefits but SO flies private jets so no traveling for us unless we use his sky miles which I guess he gets a ton of so maybe it isn't a problem

Good Luck with everything!
