Welcome Lauren!

I'm Kristie, my hubby is an FO on the 767-300 for Delta...flies international consistently now but hasn't yet flown the Ireland/England/Scotland routes... they pulled most of those flights back to 2 man flights and he's not wanting to be doing those types of long flights for the same pay as 3 man flights. He flies relief quite a bit too but doesn't mind it since the pay/scope requirements are exactly the same as the flying pilot...as long as he meets quals of 3 landings in 90 days...Most of his flights are 3 man groups down into France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Turkey...this month, he's going to Madrid and Athens (I'm going to attempt to tag along for Athens over xmas...Madrid is already oversold )...he's already talking about upgrading to CA...keeps watching the bids as he doesn't want to have to sit reserve or have crap schedule. He's getting closer to where he'd have about the same type of schedule bids as he does now.

We've been hearing some *icky things* about CAL's contract (esp ER flying) and are seeing quite a few guys going for interviews over at Delta...Jetblue & SWA guys too! DAL is still going to be hiring about 1000 more pilots up through next year and believe it or not, ER flying is on the initial bid for a lot of the new hires...I'm not sure how long reserve would be though or if there even is one... but i know doug's jumped up 60 in seniority in just the past month.

We just got back from a 48 hr layover in Frankfurt (for the xmas markets). he wasn't working the trip so he actually had a more difficult time of just sitting still and "enjoying" the flight. I have a feeling he'll have the same reaction going to HK this weekend....HAHA

my hubby also went to ERAU... but over in Prescott back in the day...has an Aviation Science degree which he figured out a few years ago is no type of "backup career".. haha

I also lived in Tampa/St. Pete for a time for college and then moved up to o-town to finish my engineering degree at UCF...so i have a lot of Orlando familiarity.. my sister still lives in the area since her hubby works at Disney. You couldn't pay me to go and live there again....I love Arizona soooo much better (less mickey mouse/bad hospitality)...

St. Augustine is beautiful!! I love the beach right around there... and the shopping!!

Welcome again...glad to have you here!

Hello and WELCOME...

I am Cassie from Charlotte, NC...and well, we are just starting out at American Eagle...I am graduating next week from UNC-Charlotte with my BS in Microbiology, and well after that, I am not too sure what to do! hahaha...

We have a maltese, Kenzie, that I adore and is my BFF when the 'man' is out of the house...

I love it here, and great to have a connection to all these wise women!

Welcome!

Cassie

Welcome! I think I'm one of the few people here that *doesn't* have any connection to Florida other than vacationing there a few times! My SO and I are both from the Seattle area, and have lived here almost all of our lives. We both spent a couple years (at different times!) in Cambridge, MA but otherwise we've been at home here in Washington. He currently flies for a freight company out of Seattle. I work for a private consulting firm as a geologist.

Glad to have you!

Desiree

Kristie- I don't know who is saying the "icky things" or what the "icky things" are, but from our perspective we are VERY happy with CAL! I guess those complainers are those who haven't really suffered at companies such as Mesa where you are treated like dirt.

CAL is working on a new contract and hopefully it will be better (I can complain about 1st year pay!). But again, we are very happy. Nick was only on reserve 2 months (when he thought it would be 9 months) and he has a decent 401k and loves the Int'l flying on a 757 of course!

Thank you Kristie for the welcome! But yes Amanda you took the words right out of my mouth. Steve and I often comment on the good opportunities. New hires are coming off the street basically -- brand new guys/gals..in a few months and on the 75/767 flying international!? Its cake! And I am happy for them! It is an umpredictable industry, and contracts are always needing improvement for sure, but when its good you are grateful, and things are decent at CAL, in fact I think besides SWA, the most promising

That's so sweet. Thanks! YES! We were actually going to get married at the cathedral in St. Augustine and have our reception right across the way there at the Casa Monica. Then we decided to just stay in Orlando and do it there. The Casa Monica is beautiful!!!! All of downtown is so pretty right now with all the lights,,,, I love it!
