| My name is Anjani and my boyfriend is currently instructing and working on his CFII. I'm working on my Masters in Geological Engineering, although my research is mostly focused on the geology of Mars (yup, I'm a nerd). My boyfriend and I are in a LDR, but luckily we're close enough to see each other most weekends. Well, there's a short introduction. This is a great site, Kristie, thanks so much for creating and maintaining it. I've been lurking here and at Jetcareers for a while, so I guess it's high time I started posting. Take care, everyone! |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Hi and welcome Anjani! I'm Amanda and I'm also in a LDR with my boyfriend Nick. He is a 1900 FO who flies for Mesa Air (Usair Express). Since April he has been flying out of Reading, PA (near where we're from) and I'm here is Scottsdale AZ. We see each other a few times a month. I'm thrilled though because starting in September he will be flying out of Hobbs, NM which is a lot closer! Yea! Glad you found this site! Amandac |

| Thanks for the welcome. I work with data that was collected on a previous mission... I wish I could do work with the rovers. I haven't been keeping up with everything the rovers have found, but I believe they have found evidence for long-standing water on Mars - pretty neat stuff, in my opinion. Amanda, how did Nick start flying with Mesa Air? My boyfriend (Zach) is thinking about applying for the PACE program (??), so I'm just curious.... |

When he decided to quit his full time job and continue his career in avaiation, he did reserch on schools and where he could get the most flying time. He decided on Westwind school of avaiation (Iflywestwind.com) since they had a program where he would get his CFI, CFII, and MEI and build a lot of hours (which he did). He also like the idea of living here in AZ since the weather is so nice (although very hot!) and he could fly more than he did on the east coast. He had enough hours after a year of instructing to be competitive for a regional airline. A few months after his application was turned in to Mesa he was hired. They are hiring like crazy at Mesa even though their competitors are slowing down and furloughing. The only issue is that quality of life while working at Mesa is not good (especially on Nick's aircraft) and the pay is lower than their competitors. I believe that Nick qualifies for food stamps :? .He didn't go through PACE but flies with some pilots who completed the program. I believe that when a person completes the program they are guarateed an interview with Mesa (but not guaranteed a job). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! I know Nick can't wait to upgrade to Cpt. He has the mins and his paperwork is in, but he's waiting for a class. Once he becomes a Cpt he'll be making $1 more an hour. yippee . He's getting antsy because he would like to work for one of the majors in the next few years. |

| Hello, My name is Kelly and my boyfriend is currently in Dallas training for his new job as F/O for American Eagle. He just found out he will be based in SJU so I am kinda bummed about that. As for me, I am a senior in the College of Nursing at the University of Akron in Ohio. I plan on going to graduate school to become a Neonatal Nurse Practioner but that is a couple of years away. I am new to this whole situation of Marshall being away (this is his first commercial airline job.) Anybody have any suggestions on how to make this easier because I miss him a ton and it has only been two days!!!! Looking forward to chatting and hearing all about what I have to look forward to in the future when it comes to dating/being married to a pilot. Kelly :-D |

| Marsh got the Rock, eh? Sorry to hear that, hopefully he'll be able to bid back to the mainland fairly soon. At least he'll get to fly the ATR! Hope class is going well for him. The ATR is a kick-butt airplane, it was (and still is) my favorite of every plane I ever worked on. Commuting to down there can be a real bitch, especially since he'll have to rely on jumpseats for the first 6 months. (I'm the same MQAAord from JC, that's how I know Marshall.) I'm a furloghed AA F/A (former Eagle), currently a SAHM to our little boy Alex, and little baby due in March. My dh is a MD88 FO for Delta. Welcome! That's so cool you're in nursing school, if I could stand needles I'd be in the medical field too! Unfortunantly I can't stand the sight of a hypodermic needle..... Makes me cringe just thinking about it. |
