| Admin/Owner ![]() | ok, so call me curious... but what are some of the thanksgiving traditions you and your family do as far as cooking goes? Please, feel free to include a recipe! Mine is simple: my family is totally midwestern germans - but we don't know any german recipes (imagine that).. so we do the standard white ppl thing (haha) whereas doug's family includes turkey AND bbq'd ribs, collard greens, yams and/or sweet potatoes on their menu! Green bean casserole (right off the french bean can) & smashed potatoes, but boil the potatoes in vegetable/chicken broth instead of water, add butter & salt and mash it - then put it through a ricer to give it that airy look/taste. We will have tamale's on our plates this year though since last week (per my blog) I went over to a girlfriends house with a few other girls and learned how to make them - they're sitting in the freezer now for the big day! other than that, i might do a fondue thing for thanksgiving this year since my dad will be over and doug will be working thanksgiving day, but home that night... then do turkey on friday while i'm out shopping with the hordes of ppls!
