| Admin/Owner ![]() | it's pretty much a given that if you live and grow up in wisconsin - you will learn and/or try buckeye balls! I grew up with this recipe and it's all over the net. no secrets unfortunately... Kaub Family Recipe: Buckeye Balls (aka: peanut butter balls) Ingredients: 1 pound smooth peanut butter 1/2 pound butter 1 1/2 pounds Powdered sugar 12 ounces chocolate chips Prep. time: 30 minutes Cooking time: 0 Serves: 25 Directions Mix peanut butter, powdered sugar and butter. Roll into 1-inch balls; place on cookie sheets and refrigerate for 2 hours. Melt chocolate chips in top of double boiler over low heat. Using a toothpick to pick up the balls, dip into melted chocolate, covering 3/4 of the ball; leave the top uncovered to resemble a buckeye. Pinch top of buckeye shut where the toothpick was. Place on cookie sheet, covered with waxed paper. Keep refrigerated. ____________________ This second recipe I learned living down in Florida.. it's a given that if you live/grow up in the south - you will learn and or try Bourbon Balls (these do have quite a bit of alchohol)! Southern Bourbon Balls Ingredients: 1 cup vanilla wafers 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 3 tablespoons light corn syrup 1/4 cup bourbon 1 cup chopped pecans Unsweetened cocoa powder and confectioners' sugar, for coating Directions: Combine the crumbs,sugar,1/4 cup cocoa powder, corn syrup and bourbon in a food processor or with an electric mixer. Blend until thoroughly mixed. Then, using a spoon, stir in the pecans. Roll tablespoons of the mixture to form small truffle-sized balls. Roll the bourbon balls in the cocoa to coat them. Just before serving, lightly sprinkle the balls with confectioners'sugar, using a strainer or shaker. ENJOY! |
