I do like to cook, but i'm more of a Paula Deen kinda girl. Although she's not working out too well with this new diet Eric and I are trying to accomplish. LOL!

Awwww, that's so sweet!

What's the new diet?

My "diet" is a lifestyle, not a deprival diet. Diets make yo-yo's. But I'm also flexible. If I want a cannoli on my birthday, I will have one--but I found that after two bites I was over surgared and not interested!

she's definately not known for her "non-fat" cooking recipes!! she has some great recipes but if you ask me, they are all WAY too much in portion size and caloric intake! i use her recipes maybe once every 2-3 months.

anyways, the recipe is called Pan Fried Tofu in Spicy Ginger Soup.

you can find it here at foodnetwork -> Recipes : Pan Fried Tofu with Spicy Ginger Soup : Food Network

it's fairly labor intensive on the prep side, it took me at least time and a half to get it done - simply because i forgot that udon noodles need to be boiled first (like spagetti) doh!! but honestly, best meal i've cooked yet - very restauranty!!

if anyone else has any tofu recipes, let me know cuz i'm a tofu addict.. I could eat tofu day after day after day....i love it best when it's fried, in dashi (soup base), or stir fried!!
I just looked at this thread and I am a Fellow TOFU addict !!! Seriously , I marinated a block of firm tofu in Curry/theme sauce over night and then smoked it on my DH's Big Green Egg (smoker) it was delicous and I had some for breakfast...
I need more recipes for tofu...hand them over !!!

Tofu w/Panko Breading....I made that last night and it turned out really good..

just cut tofu into two pieces (length wise) so you get a two nice long flat pieces, do the whole flour, egg, panko breading on all sides and fry in about 2 tbsp of peanut oil...i think i did each side about 3-4 minutes, maybe longer (i didn't time it ) till it's nice and brown...YUMMY!! served it with broccolini....

I learned about it at DRIFT.. they have a panko tofu (tofu panko?) sandwich there that is really good.

good to meet another tofu addict!!

Is your hubby a tofu addict too? mine's SO not...he's always a meat eater..i just get tired of eating meat (esp beef).

Panko is a japanese breading... you'll find it where ever they put the tempura breading in the ethnic aisle.
