Hmmm....Roz, he just rinsed them multiple times in water before and after he cooked them. What's this about cornmeal? I'm gonna have to go dig out my "Joy of Cooking"!
Hey--I think that's where I learned it! I love that cookbook. Mine's all tattered and a testimony to much use over the years!

Oh, Brenda, what about the frozen shrimp and scallops they sell? Do they have that available where you are? They are flash frozen immediately so, they are pretty good. Of course, they are not as good as going into the ocean and scooping up your own scallops, but still they are nice!

Harumph!

I imagine your lobsters are probably a lot better than the lobster my mom and I got today at Red Lobster.

Stop you're making me hungry for seafood!!

Nick and I were "adventurous" last night and made our own sushi! All of the ingredients were store bought of course!

Ro- Nick and I will need to join you and Charlie one of these nights!
We'll bring the wine and you bring the scallops! or lobsters! Or anything that is edible from the ocean!

What about sea urchin??

Although if you like sushi, that might be one of the icky things you like.... GROSS!!

Brian loves sushi too, but fortunately I've discovered the items I can eat at those kinds of restaurants.

Mmmmm, I adore scallops. We mostly take the easy way out and just make stir fry w/ them.

The other day my honey and I were watching Iron Chef America. The secret ingredient was apple and the iron chef selected was Cat Cora. Both the challenger and Cora used scallops for one of their dishes. But Cora left hers in the shell and when she presented the dish she said they were "live scallops." They looked all slimy and uncooked. But were they REALLY live? Is that some fancy way to serve and eat scallops? I love scallops, but I don't think I could do the "live scallop" thing.

DH said he popped one in his mouth. BUT, he had just surfaced from the dive with it and 50 of its friends and shucked it open. So, it was FRESH. Otherwise, I'd do a cerviche which cooks it in the acid of citrus and can be served cold.

Kristie- remind me to tell you of the time Nick and I mistakenly ate raw scallop sushi in San Fran. I love scallops but NOT raw!
