Default New Girl Here

Hi My name is Kim. I just joined the group after coming across an ad for it on jetcareers last week. Currently, I live in Jacksonville, FL with my son (who is 4) and soon to be husband, while he is building hours as a CFI. We moved here from San Francisco in January so he could do his flight training here with ATP. Hopefully he'll have enough hours around the end of the year to get on as a first officer with a regional. I work for our local Girl Scout Council in the Product Sale (ie Cookies!) department. Before that, I used to work with Girl Scout summer camps.

It's been a long crazy adjustment so far, but we have all had a great time and are looking forward to moving and seeing other parts of the country as well. I grew up in the industry, my father was a mechanic and trainer and several of my family members were also, all for United. I'm so glad that I found a group for pilot families, because it seemed like I could never get answers to the questions I had about aviation and being associated with the airlines. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Kim

A big welcome to all of the new folks on the board (and there are plenty of you!)

I'm Amanda and my boyfriend Nick is a Captain on the ERJ for Mesa Air. We met on an airplane in 2002. At the time he had 400 total hours and he was a CFI/CFII/MEI. He worked hard, built up his time, and was hired at Mesa at an FO on the Beech 1900 based in New Mexico. After that he went to the CRJ as an FO and was based in PHX. That was great since he was actually able to live with me in Scottsdale. In May he upgraded to Captain and is in the ERJ based in IAD (Dulles- Washington DC). Both Nick and I are from the Phila PA area.

I work in finance at a large mutual fund/investment company, but I am in desperate need of a change!

Actually, I do get to taste test the new cookies before they come out There are two different national bakeries, so it may be different in your area, but our new flavor is a sugar free chocolate chip brownie. But they are still working on refining it, so I'm not sure how it's going to fly. It's, ummm, a little dry. Might be good on ice cream though...

Amanda, I'll have to pick your brain about Mesa airlines. We are thinking about them, because at least we would be closer to the West Coast again, but we have heard negative things about how they treat their pilots, so we aren't sure. Right now ATP instructors are averaging 100 hrs flight time/month, so we still have a few months to consider what we want to do. He's not allowed to apply for anything until after our wedding in Dec. though. Because I'd be really pissed if he were off training after all the planning that I still need to do...

Kim

Welcome to the board.

My DH is a CA for ExpressJet (Continental Express) based in Ohio. He has been flying for them since June of 1999. We both went to college at Florida Institute of Technology (that is where he did the majority of his flying). I am an 8th grade science teacher. We live in NH so he commutes to work, which sucks but we have no desire to live in any of the bases for his company.

Girl Scout cookies....yummy! My favorite are the Samoas but some of the troops around me only have the carmel delights...and I swear they do not taste the same!

Hi! Welcome - I'm Kimberly and DH an FO for X Jet. He also went through ATP and spent several months in Jacksonville. I visited him there a few times. Anyway, we live in TX, as he is based in IAH. I am a physical therapist and mom to 15 month old Mackenzie. Again- nice to have you

I'm a caramel delight girl. I agree that there is a taste difference.

I've been to jax AND i'm a thin mints girl!! I haven't bought any in a while simply because they're too addicting (like smarties!) and i get myself into tooo much trouble with them. but they are awfully good!

Welcome Kim! I'm Kristie, wife to a Delta MD90 F/O..soon hopefully to be the wife of a Delta ER F/O (international).. no word yet though, maybe next month! altho it's probably better cuz our schedule is a bit too hectic right now... I travel lots and we're now back in travel season. as i see it, my next 4 weekends will be spent out and about!

so you moved with your fiance for his flight training? that's dedication!! how do you like it in jax?
