| Jetgirls Member | You have to know, too, that it isn't so much the "regional" part of his job that's keeping him away as it is the "reserve" part. Once he's on a line, he'll (probably) be home at least a little more. I've known my boyfriend since he got his private back in high school and we've been dating for the past seven years. (Where the heck is my ring, already?!?) I live in California, he lives in Texas, and he's based out of Virginia. I see him about two weekends a month. Painful, but doable. As everyone else has mentioned, I have a very full life independent of him. Welcome aboard!

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Hello, I am new to the whole pilot wife thing as well. My husband and I have been married for 3 years and he has been a FO for ASA for about 1.5 years, so we are learning together. The reserve thing is not as bad as it sounds. Jason was usually home 2-3 days a week and sometimes I would go to Atlanta on the weekends to visit him at his crashpad. I always miss him when he is gone and get all giffy when I go get him at the airport. It feels like I have not seen him forever. This site is awesome with the advice and the friendships that can be made here. Even if it is only an interent friendship. April |

| That was exactly how I felt. I was dwelling on the negatives. I was wondering if I could really handle this kind of lift style. However after reading some threads on the website I realized I can do this too!! So, thanks for the encouragement. |

Fortunately Fiance never had to sit reserve. However, training was pretty hard. Not only was he gone for 7 weeks, he was also entirely busy and preoccupied w/ all of the new material that was being hosed at him. Some days would be just a quick 10 mins on the phone ... but you take what you can get. How are things going now? Its been a few weeks since your first fears were expressed ... | |

| ofcourse you can do it. Some days you can do it EASIER than others but you can STILL do it right? My hubby is back on reserve, he just upgraded to Capt. Im not gonna lie,, it downright stinks! BUT the good thing is,,, it wont be this way for long,,, its only TEMPORARY right? Thats what I have to keep telling myself,,,, it's only for a little while! Then he'll be back to 3 on 4 off and home 5 nights a week,,,, those were the good ol days,, its gonna be a little while longer before it will be that way again, BUT it WILL be that way again,,,,,, ask anyone here,,, I was the FIRST one to say,,, i CANT do this,, I dont WANT to do this,, I cried for MONTHS,, but eventually you get used to it and YES,, eventually you will even ENJOY your "me" time..... best of luck,,,,, it'll get better~ ![]() |

| I hope that I am not getting over confident but the more I read the more relaxed I get. Even reading about the hard times (which I know will happen). It is really empowering to hear everyone's words of encouragement. It also reassuring the hear the same message from everyone. Thanks again Ladies. |
