| Hi and welcome! My BF used to commute from FLL to ATL. We have been dating for two years and he was pretty much gone 4 out of 7 days a week minimum when he was commutting (which isn't really that bad). Its not the easiest because, depending on the night his trip ends, the flights might look good or they might not. For example, a trip ending on a Friday night at 5:30 in ATL is a bad situation. I have had to pick the BF up at 12:30 AM at the airport because he couldn't get back due to oversold flights ![]() But you work through it. And to be honest he is now based here in Florida and they still send him on 4 day trips so its actually almost the same as his old job! It sounds like you really care for him so as long as he is understanding of what you'll need to make it work you should be fine Keep yourself busy with hobbies and friends. For me it is tough because I am relatively new to this area and have no family and few friends to spend time with, but I read, workout and am learning to play the guitar! P.S. I think I may finally be starting to adjust...but I don't want to jinx it. The jetgirls help ![]() |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Hi Kate! Welcome! I hate commuting! My dh is based out of ATL and we now live EVV, which is a smaller town in Indiana, south of Indianapolis. Actually, Evansville is one of the 3 largest cities in Indiana. But, there are a limited amt of flights to and from ATL. The lines just keep on reducing! It's a job just trying to figure out how he is going to get home and to which city, There are times when he has to go to STL, CVG, IND, BNA, and SDF. It's crazy. Or. he'll have a 6PM rept but has to take the first flt out which is at 6AM!!! There have been a few times that he has had to go in the night before, but thankfully, his seniority has let him have his top priorities, late reports, early arrivals. But, after all that being said, I would still live where I am because we have family here, the schools are great, the cost of living is still good, and I LOVE my house.

| Hi girls, I just now remembered that I wrote this post, and I'm glad I did! My guy signed me up for this site anticipating that it would be hard for me once he held a line...well, this week is the first week of his line holding (he's based out of CRP) and I'm really struggling. I'd love to get together with other girls in the area since I'm sort of new to the area anyway, and lonely without him here. Let me know if you guys decide to meet up. Thanks for all the advice about commuting. I can only hope this gets easier as time goes on :/ |

| Hi Welcome to the board. My husband is based out of saint louis and we actually live in saint paul mpls. He also flies for republic well chautauqua airlines. He is a captain. We did the long distance thing for a long time. I met him in his first year of flight school while he was living in florida. I finished college that year in wisconsin and then moved to florida. When he did get hired by the airlines, he was in louisville and north carolina while i was in florida and then we made the decision to move back to mpls when he got the base in saint louis. He has a very easy commute thank goodness to saint louis so we have been lucky about that. It's hard at first but you will get used to it. My other friends don't understand how i do it with him being gone about 4 days a week but after 7 years I have gotten used to it. you will too ![]() |
