| Greetings JetGirls ! It is a pleasure to " meet " everyone - I am thrilled to find an outlet of sorts to possibly connect with other ladies that love a man in aviation. I am new at this, or any kind of blogging so I have a bit to learn. My husband and I were married " destination style " in September during his vacation time. He flys for Continental, mostly international these days, and is fairy established in the biz. We met 2 years ago when I was working as a Flight Attendant for the same airline. We were both single and honest and available! I was living in SE Pennsylvania at the time where I am from. We did alot of traveling together, for pleasure -- and work trips, which ended up being pretty pleasurable anyway in each other's company! We both love nature and aviation history. Steve the history part more than me, but I've grown to appreciate it! Our dream trip was to Palau, Micronesia. We knew it had to be when we both admitted this in common on our second date. It took us 36 hours to get there, with no shower and total jet lag - and we still liked each other! Paradise! We have shared so many wonderful experiences AND the most simple of pleasures. We both ended up falling in love and in the same direction down to North Florida. I quit the Flight Attendant life after 7 years to return to school, specifically Embry-Riddle to finish my degree in Aviation Safety Science - which is still in process. I love it. But have notably taken some time off from fulltime class loads to " nest " , fix up our house etc. People always ask if I miss flying and I truly do not. It was a fabulous experience! The only time I panic is when I realize I am venturing into a new career realm and have to interview, and all that good stuff, break into a new field. Though the adventure is better than having too many days of unfullfillment! I was longing to finish up school, slow down a bit and have a more routine life. Steve always teases me that I really didn't give it up, I just go with him now. We have no children, not sure if that will happen. My husband is a bit older and somedays I feel the urge and somedays it feels we have too much to do on our own and get caught up with first. As far as hobbies etc. right now the focus seems to be on fixing up/decorating our home we just bought. Our home was only 6 years old , but we have done alot to give it character. The people that owned it were winter vacationers and it was never lived in or really loved it seemed. I really get into crafty projects! I also like to travel obviously, snorkel, I love dance, sea turtle conservation volunteering, hanging out at home and riding the bike with my sweetie along the coast down here to some great hidden eatery. We will be busy the next few weeks ( as I am sure many of you will! ) with the Holidays. We are also preparing to host our wedding reception in St. Augustine in two weeks and then take a honeymoon. Things are busy but I wanted to start this up. I hope to connect with some people through this system - one of my husbands FO's recommended this site. ( thanks Amanda and Nick! ) I find that not many people relate to this lifestyle. For me the biggest challenge is simply missing my partner when he is away, keeping the connection/communication despite bouts of separation and my concern for his safety occassonally in regards to international travel. I look forward to " meeting " you -- and supporting all you girls too. |

| Jetgirls Member | Welcome to the board!!! DH and I used to live in DAB before we were married! That's actually where we met. He used to fly for Vintage Props and Jets out of New Smyrna when he was at Riddle. We lived in NSB then moved up to Pt. Orange and lived on Riverside Dr. for a while. I worked in mental health in the DAB area. I miss our old stomping grounds dearly!!! Again, welcome and glad to have you here! ![]()

| Hi Kim! Thanks for the welcome. I love your wedding photo...is that HK in the background? Scotland is just about my husband and mine favorite " small country " WE LOVE IT! My husband often works Edi and Gla. As far as HK ..he has been there ( and wants to return ) and I really want to visit Hong Kong on vacation. Unfortunately, the CO. always warns us about traveling to HK from Newark - the flights are usually weight restricted returning and they often leave many employees behind even when there are empty seats! I will probably contact you for suggestions if/when we do get to travel there. Do you enjoy living there? Thanks again for your welcome. ![]() |

| Oops,. I almost forget! Honeymoon: we are driving to Hilton Head Island South Carolina US. It is only a 3 hour drive..and a bit more affordable - with all his flying lately and house projects we really just want to relax and do nothing for a week! ( beach/hotel ) ...We are hoping to go to Hawaii in March on his vacation time. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Hi Daytona! Nice to "meet" you. My fiance` flies for Mesaba and commutes to MSP. We live near Monterey, CA. Though we've known each other for 7 years, we reconnected in 2005 when he was doing his flight training in your neck of the woods. He was at Regional Airline Academy in Deland, so I spent a good deal of time visiting your area. I also did my undergrad at Univ. of Miami. W/ FL being such a breeding ground of aviation there are A LOT of FL connections on Jetgirls! ![]() |
