Your husband isn't the scab! It's really the Freedom A-listers. I know if I try to explain the whole Freedom situation I'll do a crummy job!
I think Roz was able to explain it well. I'm surprised your husband doesn't know anything about Freedom. Sorry- I didn't mean to start anything... it's just that I remember reading a ton of stuff on MesaLounge (before it was shut down and turned into Mesahub) about Freedom and the posts get VERY heated. I'm pretty tired(j ust flew in from a day trip to PDX) so I'll get some info int he next few days if I can. Like I said, if I try to explain it in my own words it might not come out right!

Amanda's right. The Freedom A listers were the "scabs". They were part of the new certificate formed by JO outside the union to circumvent the contract while in negotiations. There were not many on that list and he was forced to sit down and negotiate with the union. The contract that was passed stunk, but it included getting rid of Freedom outside the union. He was supposed to have gotten rid of it altogether. Instead he kept the name and resurrected it last year to do certain contract flying.

But the name carries a stench with most in the profession.
