Cool it's over

After 3 years and 2 months, john and i are done - at least for the next several months. A lot of crap has happened over the past year and we've just sort of been existing as a couple rather than actively being one. We've managed to get by on the previous 2 years worth of good relationship that we built up, but the past month has seen that karma run out.

There is no animosity or hatred between us, but we both need a significant break to deal with the hurt and pain of the last year. I'm still moving to Utah, but I'm going to be living in the dorms at Deer Valley rather than in an apartment. After that who knows. I'm looking towards traveling quite a bit in may/june perhaps living in italy for a while? I don't know right now, but I'm looking forward to it.

For the first time in the last 10months I finally feel calm and at peace (weird eh?) Trying to keep our relationship going has been so freakin stressful, not to mention dealing with my job. Well, the relationship is done (for now anyway) and the job is done in a week (last day is nov. 3). I'm surprisingly not about this whole thing. Perhaps i've finally given up and realized i can't plan my whole life all the time. I don't really know. Either way though, I still plan on hanging around here cause you guys all rock!

Emily

Bill and I split up several times in the course of our 6 years dating before we got married.

Life takes funny turns sometimes, and I'm glad you're at peace with everything. That's a nice feeling to have. Glad to hear you're going to stick around though, because you rock too!

Very, Very sorry to hear that you are going through this right now. Hang in there,,, sometimes, a lot of times, when couples slpit up, they figure out what it is that needs to happen in order to make the relationship work. I hope you two find that. SOunds like this past year has been especially hard and I hope it gets easier..... Good luck.,... glad to know you will be sticking around here.

Thanks guys for your support! I think we'll get back together some day, but right now, we both need some space to do some thinking and figure out our own lives and who we are as individual people before we can be together. I've realized over the past few days that there is still a lot I want to do in my life that really isn't condusive to having a boyfriend, namely traveling, living abroad, owning a cat (john's highly allergic!) etc. I couldn't really do any of that while i was with john because of him training, building time, flight instructing, etc. I know I could wait until he was on with a regional airline to go abroad or travel, but I really don't know what I want to do in my life and i think this will help me figure it out.

as a side note - one of my coworkers suggested I become a flight attendant to travel and see the world and I started cracking up! Flight attendants are awesome, but there is no way I could deal with the schedule and people.

Hey,,, don't knock it til ya try it right? Im only kidding,,, but seriously,,When I flew with Delta as a flight attendant I was only 21,, and I am happy to say now,, that I am soooo glad I had the opportunity to do it while I did. Although I could have never seen myself doing it any longer than I did ( a little over a year) it gave me an opportunity to see such wonderful cities at such a young age that I wouldn't have otherwise had the opportunity to see.... it was great. You're right though,, the people and the schedules can really get to ya sometimes,,,, but hey,,, the same with almost all jobs right??

Being a flight attendant is no way to "see the world". With the reduced rest, and 'efficient' schedules, there's not much time left over for any sight-seeing.

I probably won't get a recall letter before my recall rights expire in Oct 2007 anyway, but even if/when I do I don't think I'd back.

I'm sorry this is happening Emily. I am really proud of you though. Knowing what you want/need out of life (or least doing what it takes to figure that out) is only going to help you grow as a person. Then if you and John do get back together you're better people for it.

Take care Em - we'll be thinkin about you. Keep us posted. I'm so glad you're sticking around the board. You'd be missed if you left!

Take care,

Geez Em, she might have something there!! you are oh so portable you know!?

I bet this time spent on yourself (and john on himself) will be a benefit to your lives and sometime later, you'll probably meet up again, go out for coffee and find that best friend all over again!!

the good thing is that the decision was mutual so it isn't quite so hard to take.. altho, i bet it'll be a bit scary for a bit cuz after a while, you just get used to having a man around to help out and all that jazz...

btw, i'm curious....spark? Chase? Chemistry? yes/no? or just buds?

oh and btw2.. there's no way your leaving the site...I expect you to check in at least once a week to make sure your doing ok (for a little while)! even if it's only via pm or what not...and anytime you want to take a pilot out for dinner (you know, they ain't rich guys anymore! haha)...you could always swap dinner for travel benny's! just let me know and i'll see what dh can find!

Emily, I'm sorry to hear your news. And I know that you will pusue what is best for YOU! But keep in mind that you are always one of us. While we start out as a board of people who happen to have a relationship with a pilot, we bond in other ways.
