We got a mattress a couple of months ago...about $800...but we LOVE LOVE LOVE it...I don't have a name right now, but I'll edit this and put the name in there...it's a mattress that I can fall into and have it conform to my body and spring back...but it's so squishy...seriously, I lay down, and am out until the alarm goes off!

Thanks for the information ladies. We still haven't made a decision yet because he refuses to go and lay around on some and see if there are any that he would like. He is leaving it all up to me! Not that I am complaining I would just like to have a bed by the time that I get there so that I am NOT sleeping on the floor. I can't imagine the shape I would wake up in if that happens!
I was looking around on line and found some good prices. I just want to make sure that they are comfortable. If you have any other suggestions or ideas keep them coming. I am open to anything right now.

DH and I just bought a new mattress this month!

The thing about mattresses is don't let the salespeople "over sell" you! More coils does NOT equal more comfort or better mattress! Also, I read online that you should lay on a mattress for 5 minutes on EACH SIDE so 20 minutes total to determine whether or not it's the right mattress for you.

Also, mattress'/comfort are subjective. Consumer reports doesn't even compare mattress' because it's so subjective. Don't be sucked into the name brands either. It doesn't mean they're better.

I know you don't need the box spring, but for anyone reading this who does, it's best to buy them as a set (even if your current box spring is in good condition). Some warranties on mattress' are void if you aren't using their box spring.

Don't overpay for expensive fabric on the mattress either. The salespeople will usually try to sell you on high end fabrics that you really don't need... you're putting a sheet on it anyway, right?

We got a king size bed for $800 and we love it! The brand we got is Miralux - Atlantis.

I'm sure that I overpaid for my mattress… I bought it at a bedding store 3 years ago, but I love it! It's a pillowtop Beautyrest… and of course with the brand name, I paid the price. When we buy another bed, we'll probably go a different route and try to save money.

The thing is… if your bf is sleeping on the floor, he probably has different sleep needs than you. Mine b*tched for the longest time that my bed was too soft for him! He's a terrible sleeper, so being in all of the different hotel beds was difficult for him to adjust to initially… strangely enough, he likes our bed now (we just used mine when we moved in together). I know that some mattresses you can buy that have different firmnesses for each side.. They'll probably cost more, though. Just make sure he understands that you want something that's probably going to be more soft than he would like! Then when/if he complains, you can remind him that you wanted him to help pick something out!

He drives me crazy. He tells me that he won't go lay on them because he doesn't care. I agree Lauren that I am just going to have to remind him that I asked for his help
He doesn't mind sleeping on the floor right now. People have told him that he should just go and buy a blow up mattress of sorts but he says that those aren't comfortable and prefers the floor I guess. Who really knows. All I know is that if we don't get the bed before I move there then that is the first thing we do when I get there. We have microfiber couches and they are comfortable and all to sit on but when you sleep on them they get sooooo hot! Oh well I guess it will be a temporary fix if it needs to be.

Oh jeesh Danielle- way too expensive.
Unless you're rich, I wouldn't pay that much!

When Nick was in the regionals and moving around, he invested about $100 on a queen sized aero mattress. They work pretty well and they are portable!

We've bought mattresses from Sam's Club......one full size for when we have guests and a couple of twins for the kids' bunk beds. I can't remember exactly how much we paid, but really inexpensive compared to the mattress or furniture stores. I'm thinking the full size (without box spring) was around $300.00, and it's really comfortable.

If your bf doesn't like those inflatable mattresses, which I can't sleep on those either but dh can, maybe he could get one of those "egg crates" (spelling?) and lay on it. We use to have one years ago and I can't remember where we got it because I'm so sleepy right now, but it was SO comfortable!

Right now, Costco is having a sale on a "Sedona Springs Queen Mattress Set" for $599, if you order it before Feb 3. We're going to jump on that. We had to leave our old faithful mattress in Michigan and have been at the mercy of air mattresses ever since. We've been too poor until recently to buy a new one.
