| Admin/Owner ![]() | Home depot is doing this free consultation for refacing kitchen cabinetry... figured i'd take the consultation since we want to redo our kitchen anyways... with that, is there anything in *your* kitchen...that you could not live without that i should check out? my kitchens pretty basic.. we have tile countertops (which we do plan on changing) and i know i'd like to get the corners redone so they're more functional..but other than that, i don't have too many other ideas for what looks good and/or what's very functional and makes working in the kitchen easier. Appreciate the ideas!!

| Not a countertop or cabinet thing, but I couldn't do without two things in my sink (we redid our kitchen a year ago). It has a faucet that pulls out to be a sprayer and there is a pump for dish washing liquid in the sink. Maybe this stuff is pretty standard, but I LOVE them! Jackie

Also, those narrow spaces by the stove to store baking sheets and baking pans.... I also like the drawers that slid out that have pots and pan storage, easy access. What fun!! What kind of counter tops are you going with Kristie? | |

| Oh, I don't have a nice kitchen...just standard, but I think that all the nice looking models have the trim on top of the cabinets...I forget what that is called...maybe moulding? It is the angled trim that goes on top. It really dresses up the kitchen. My 2 sister-in-laws have the exact same house that we have and they both have the trim on top of their cabinets...it really makes a difference. I couldn't tell you much about what I have, but I like how some of the islands have that space for cookbooks on the side. Another sister-in-law has the space for the cookbooks, and above that space another spot that microwaves go in....not good with little kids, but very convenient and hiding for non-kid households. I would love to have a double oven, but only if you cook a bunch. My mom doesn't cook a bunch, and she never uses it. On the otherhand, sister-in-law does and uses it all the time. Oh, if I was redoing my cabinets, I would make sure the sink and counter are flat....for instance, not where the sink goes above the rim of the counter. It makes it so easy to slide in crumbs and such right into the sink for easy clean up. To get some ideas, I would google in Martha Stewart's kitchen....she seems to always have the neatest gadgets....or one of the other tv kitchen hosts that you like. Then look at the image search. Oh, and don't forget to look on Lowe's and Home Depot sites for coupons off of remodeling. Sometimes they have 10 or even 20 percent off coupons if you sign up for remodeling info. or things like that. |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | I love having my spices in a thin pull out cabinet! All these yrs I had them tumbling out off the shelves from those metal space saving spice racks! Silly, but I couldn't live without that. OOh and of course a wine fridge that holds 8 bottles that is nestled under one of the counters.

the one we have now is where the sprayer is placed in the sink.... I know a few things i want is the soap/lotion dispenser in the sink....and the trash basket under the countertop with a big trash hole in the counter itself (to drop things in).

| The sprayer and dish soap dispenser are the best - we have them too. We went to Lowes to get a kitchen estimate and found them way over priced! We decided to keep what we have and simply update the cabinent door pulls. We purchased the pull out trash can, and pull out bins/shelving on tracks for lowers cabinents which makes the lower stored stuffed easier to access. If you or your Hubby is remotely handy you can install these yourself and make your kitchen so much more easy to use -- pretty cheap at Lowes -- well at least cheaper than a new kitchen! Maybe in 5 or 10 years we wil tackle the whole kitchen for a redo. |
