Changing of the Season Rituals Cold weather has finally hit Tennessee!! We had the longest hottest summer ever, or so it felt like. Then we had ugly gray weather with rain for a couple of weeks. But now, finally, it is getting cold. The cold won't be too bad (not like you guys in the north) but we still have to make a few arrangements for the drop in temps.
Last time hubby was home we closed the swimming pool. A first time for us. It was a major job becuase we had let it become unclean since it has been too cold to swim since middle of Sept, but not cold enough to close until Oct 16th. Hubby ended up climbing into 60 degree water in order to get the steps out. I felt so bad for him!!!
I spent most of today change our closets around. The closets at our house are not big enough to contain both our winter and summer clothes, so the off season goes in plastic tubs in the attic. Unless I wanted to keep wearing shorts and tank tops, something had to be done. For the first time ever I also did hubby's closet (he is gone all the time and when he is home I want him to spend it with me, not folding and hanging up clothes.) It is a massive chore that keeps the wash machine and iron going all day long.
Flannel sheets and a extra blanket also went on the bed today. This morning when I woke up the thermostat said 66. I am trying to not turn on the heat for as long as possible, sides I like to bundle up.
A couple of weeks ago hubby drug the outdoor fire pit out of storage. We love to sit around the fire in the evenings and have had a couple of friends over to roast marshmellows with us.
Anybody else have any cold weather/change in season rituals that they love (or hate) to do? |
