If it's not near you then don't bother.
It's not a good place to buy over the internet. You really need to go into one of their showrooms to get the whole "experience".

We furnished a lot of Walt's office with Ikea when he opened his aviation practice. I could spend days in there..... and those cinnamon rolls..... Ikea and Costco, my two favorite stores!

The smell of cinnamon rolls are a big part of the whole Ikea experience. If the smell of them wasn't there the whole thing would be ruined.

lol.. they have that at my gym too... which ironically is right across the street (literally) from Ikea. You can dump your kids off at the child care center, get in a good workout and soak in the hot tub without your kids bothering you.

Does anyone know how they run on shipping charges? It says they will email it to me, but I really would rather find out before I consent to charges.

Also, how well does the furniture hold up? I want a platform bed, and its either them or walmart. Both are the same price, but I'm trying to compare shipping and quality. Also, do you need a box spring for the platform beds? It doesnt look like it but I haven't actually seen one in person! They are opening a new store in orlando in the fall, but I just can't wait that long! But I still plan to visit when it does open. Road trip!

Yeah, but then how would we get our inevitable purchases home from Chicago? We're only allowed 2 pieces of checked luggage and all...

From what I heard the shipping is pretty expensive. Of course that is a subjetive opinion so I really don't know a specific $.
I really love IKEA but honestly it is not the best made furniure (mostly particle board not real wood) and you have to put it together yourself. Sometimes pieces/parts are missing and if a store is near you all you need to do is go over there and they will give you what is missing. It would be much harder if you live far away. I don't believe you need a box spring for the bed by the way.

It's been a while since I bought furniture there. I like buying their paintings/framed prints and lots of their great smelling candles that are very cheap.
