I have this facebook friend who I went to school with. We don't really know each other much anymore outside of fb but she has a little boy who is about 3 or 4 and he's extremely overweight for his age. Anyways, she calls him Fat Boy. She's a nice person and she means it affectionately but it droves me insane and kind of makes me a little sad for him. Is it just me? I feel like she's making lightly of something that could be a big problem. I was a chunky kid and have struggled big time with my weight my whole life and I really don't want my kids to. I think if they were that overweight, I wouldn't be making cute and light about it. Although she means it affectionately, it seems mean to pick a person's worst physical trait and call them by it... "Hey Zit Face!" "Hey Wide Hips!" "Hey Unibrow Boy!" It just drives me INSANE. Okay, I feel better :)

Ugh! My youngest was diagnosed with pneumonia last night! He's had a productive cough and drippy nose for the last few days but nothing out of the ordinary. But, when I got home from work last evening, he was doing this gasping/grunting thing as he breathed! I asked my DH how long it had been going on and he said off and on all day! WTF!!!!:ccrazy: We had been given an inhaler back in May after we had gone to the Pediatrician for an ear infection secondary to a cold and the doc took one listen to his chest and immediately got the baby some Albuterol. That turned out to be a one time thing but I'm SO glad I filled the inhaler script anyway. So, I kind of freak out, drag my medicine box off the top of the cabinet and paw through it for the inhaler. Meanwhile my DH is totally poopooing me and even said, "Can't this wait until after dinner?" Yum NO! Your child can't breathe! :bitch:So I akwardly give him a couple puffs from the inhaler, put a call into the Ped's office and the baby seems to be better. In fact, he devourers his dinner. The ped calls me back, talks me down a little and says that he can have the inhaler up to every two hours but if he needs it more often than that I need to go to the ER. Well 90 minutes later he's having trouble again and we're off to the ER. Meanwhile my DH still thinks I'm over reacting. Well, a chest X-ray, and hour long breathing treatment later, we've got a pneumonia diagnosis. Apparentlly I was NOT over reacting!!!!!!!:bitch:

So, DH is appropriately sheepish and all I could think about at the ER after the baby fell asleep during the breathing treatment was what I would have done if he hadn't been home? I would have had to take the other two boys with me, at bed time. Yeah, that would have been difficult at best. For me, it was another push in the direction of moving closer to family. Sheesh....:sigh: I just don't know how long I can keep doing this by myself....
