I went to the new one yesterday and am really upset by the way she went about telling me some hard news!

After the speculum exam she did the bi-manual exam and while she was pressing on my Uterus she started asking me questions about if I'm seeing anybody, how long, if I want to get married one day and if I want to have kids one day. Of course I said yes to everything. After all of the questioning she said "hmm." Then she started asking me questions like if I'm positive that I don't have any children ( uh I think I would know that), or if I have had an abortion or miscarriage before. I told her "No" because I have never been impregnated before.

THEN she proceeds to tell me that "this guy" that I'm seeing needs to know "what he's getting himself into before he settles down," because apparently my Uterus is too big for someone who's never been pregnant before. I asked her what that could mean because, I have never been pregnant before.

Basically she told me that either I've had this my whole life and my previous doctor was incompetent in not finding it and that my uterus probably wouldn't hold a baby to term, or it's something that has recently developed and it could be uterine cancer or an inflammed ovary that would need to come out and I'd only have one ovary to work with when I decide to get pregnant later....

Ok. All I have to say is...... WTF? He needs to know what he's getting into before he settles down with me? Who the heck says something like that to someone?

I asked her if I could just be a weirdo with a big uterus. She looked at me like I was crazy.

So basically she told me I'm either going to die of cancer, or not be able to have children, but at least my BF hasn't settled down with me yet so he still has time to run ( ok, those aren't the words she used, but that's what I got out of it). There were no reassuring words whatsoever!


Anyways I'm having an ultrasound on Monday to "measure my uterus." I was supposed to have it on wednesday, but the BF (who needs to know what he's getting himself into before he settles down with me), had me change it to Monday so he can come with me.

Anyways. I'm not too nervous about the results because none of it really makes sense to me that she could "diagnose" me with all of that negative stuff without any testing. Just a bi-manual exam.

Just had to vent! I'm used to doctors being nasty to me at work and sweet to the patients, but I've never had one be that nasty to me as a patient.

I then was told police shot him and he died in the OR. Luckily DH was on his way home commuting when I told him. Then my horse colic'ed as winds were picking up and the thnderstorms hit. Here I sit at 4:26am and still cant sleep between this and 2 hr checks on the mare. Its so hard to accept reality when you never saw this coming. Just finishing up the "lonely" years of child raising, so I am looking forward to stepping back into some old favorite activies and gaining some new ones. Starting to travel again and some of the benefits have changed, so I might need some of your help understanding those. Hubby is a flying pilot but also has been doing quite a bit of work with the union (pairing construction and bidding) so it is strange having a traveling spouse AND an office spouse.

The one thing that isn't really out there is scope...how does the Delta scope look with tentative agreement?

The other day BF took the jumpseat home and the captain (who was female) made a sexually-charged comment to him. He prefaced telling me with, "I don't know if you'll think this is funny or not..." and I definitely did not think it was funny. It reminded me of something stupid you'd hear from a male captain to a female FA, in a stereotypical TV show. I know that my BF is good looking and charming but I really didn't think we'd have to deal with these kinds of things. I guess I expected more from women in that field. I'm not worried about his behavior, I trust him entirely. I just feel frustrated that pilots would say these things to each other. Not to mention, since I work in HR, my mind immediately went to sexual harassment and that this woman could be sued and fired for making the comment.

I also didn't want to react badly because I want him to keep telling me about these things. I'd rather know and feel uncomfortable than have him not tell me and try to spare me. I didn't know how to react so I just didn't say anything other than, "actually, no, I don't think that's funny." He said that he sees why I don't think it is funny but that she was most definitely just joking. Luckily, he wasn't on his airline so hopefully he won't see her again.

I guess I'm wondering if any of you have encountered situations like this and how you deal with it? I'm not freaking out, but am I overreacting? Yesterday I ended up being induced and after a quick 4.5 hour labor, gave birth to our third son, William. He weighed in at 7lbs 10oz and was 19.5 inches long. Much smaller than we were expecting! He's perfect in every way and I can't wait to get him home!
