I am so excited!! I officially got the transfer to a new school in my district. My current school is G-H-E-T-T-O, and students fight every day, curse like they have not been taught any better, are rude to most adults and do NOT think that they need to do any work to pass. And what's worse, is they administration ALLOWS them to do it! They think if they show up, they should just get credit for that. Out of 100 students this year, I have about 15 that have tried the entire year and turn in their work like they are supposed to. My current school has the worst reputation in the district for having low achieving students.

Next year, I'll be at a school that has the same kind of students, but higher expectations. And, on top of that, it's about 30 minutes closer to my house! With TWO babies to take to my parents house when DH is out of town, I'm so thankful that my new school is about 5 minutes from my parents. How awesome is that? I'm a little nervous because baby #2 is due just before school starts again, so I'll be starting 6 weeks late. I can't believe my new principal wanted me even though I came from a terrible school and I'll be out for 6 weeks...

Lots of changes coming our way this next year!

One item caught my eye, so I bid. I got RT luxury limo from Rome airport FCO to city centre--wifi, beverages, entertainment--pick up inside arrivals--Mercedes (but of course!) for $70 US. Typical price is E70 one way. WOWWEEEE. I couldn't believe no one bid against me. Now, if we can just find the time and the right flight someday (certificate has no expiry!) There is so much more us to see in Rome. Boss doesn't know about this so he gets a surprise on return tomorrow.

We're getting together for dinner with some friends from High School Monday night. (Side story is that the hosts dated in High School, eventually married other people, divorced, moved back to town and are now living together :arms:) My contribution is dessert and today is one friend's birthday. He has asked for a choc cake with strawberry filling. I'm thinking a two layer cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries as the middle and topping. I can't remember the last time I make a cake from scratch, but I'm tempted to try for this. Any REALLY awesome recipes for choc cake (that would go well with strawberries) and tips for making cakes from scratch? :scared:

I'm feeling a little guilty because I'll have to call into work and leave the other two boys but this is such a special opportunity. How many kids get to do something so cool with their Dads :bow down:? Pictures to follow!

I have a 19 year old Siamese kitty named Minkey. I've had her since the 5th grade and she's my best friend. She's been through every relationship I've had, to the birth of my son 8 weeks ago. Shes been in kidney failure for 2 years that we know of and we've been managing her well, but a few months back she started to really get skinny. She's down to 5.5 lbs from over 8, is on 3 meds, wasn't eating much and the kicker was she started peeing on the carpet for reasons we dont know. I took her in and had them test for a UTI but it was neg. over the last two weeks she's withdrawn from us, pretty much sleeping on the couch all day instead of always trying to be on my lap. The vet said to get her to eat whatever she will eat, and now shes vomiting and pooping on the floor... She just isn't herself 90% of the time. What kills me right now though is the glimmers of her that shine through, like when she does jump on me and fall asleep, or wait for me on the chair to come downstairs. The issue is now we have an infant, today she peed on his activity may right in front of me. I know she's not mad about the baby because the peeing just started... And she was going downhill before baby. I know her time is coming but making the decision on when to put her down is SO hard and I'm having a hard time :( I feel selfish because she's getting hard to handle with all her messes, and with DH mostly gone and the baby I'm running low on patience for the peeing everywhere. I almost wish she would show me some way she's ready so I wouldn't feel so guilty, but maybe she already is... The vet all but gave me her blessing saying she has a chronic disease we can't cure and she's not herself... Anyways, any words of encouragement or help with your past stories would help. I know I'm the only one who will know when it's her time, but it's hard :(

I have been sick off and on for two months. It seems like either my husband or the kids bring stuff home when I still haven't recovered from the last illness. I think it has to do with lack of sleep ( baby refuses to wean, so any advice on that would be appreciated too. He is 15 months). About a month and a half ago, I went to a natural md who found a lump on the side of my neck, but since I was fighting a cold, it was just to be kept an eye on. Went to my normal family doc a week or so later, and he said to wait another week and if it hasn't gone down, a cat scan. Did a cat scan, they said there is a mass and is sending me to a specialist. Of course, mil, says it is nothing and thinks the tests are a waste of time. (How can someone make you feel like you are making it up when two docs and a cat scan said otherwise....geez!)

Anyway, searched the Internet and read tons of what-ifs. But, anyone on here have same experience? Btw, my primary doc said this type of mass is not from an infection.

I'm sure someone else has had to deal with this type of situation I would appreciate any advice I can get.....So 13 years ago my parents sold thier house and moved into an apartment building that my grandmother owned (they moved into the apartment upstairs) in order to "help take care of her." And while it hasnt been great it's been ok (my grandmother is extemely impatient, demanding, and ungrateful critizing my parents all the time).

Recently (last 2 months or so) she has really gone down hill like can't do anything for her self can't get in bed or out of bed...anything....my mom took her to the ER this morning because it was so bad she couldn't move. After waiting there for 5 hours they said thier was nothing they could do (I guess her spine is deteriotiating?) and sent her home.

My moms upset because they didn't keep her and has pretty much decided to quit her job and take care of her, and is going to miss her niece's graduation this weekend because she's so bad my grandma can't go and can't be alone that long.

I'm beside myself my mom is miserable, and I don't understand why we cannot take her somewhere where she will have round they clock care (yes I'm talking about a nursing home). My mom gets mad when when I say anything about it and says that the nursing home can't make her stay. I really want to make my mom happy but it seems like she's resigned herself to this role even though she is miserable......as dh has said it's not my mother so I don't have much of a say in it. And before everyone says something yes I could go over there BUT let me give you an example of why this won't work.....So about 7 years ago before dh and I were married but dating we were sitting at the table with all my family and dh, my uncle, my dad and I were goofing around....well she didn't like that.....So after everyone had left I was helping clean up and she told me I should be "nicer" and "better" because dh could have any girl he wanted.....At which point I walked out and she kept trying to call me after I left!

I guess I'm just not sure what to do...let it go and let my mother be miserable because she's chosen that? Or try and fight to put her in a nursing home so my parents can have their life back?

So dh just took a new job (same company) flight safety coordinator or something like that, so he's been working on the new rest rules (FAR 117) and got together a 30 page(ish) paper on it. Turns out someone else at the company who is getting thier masters is writing thier paper for class on the same thing. So intially we thought great someone to bounce idea's off of (and I do me WE I have done a lot of work on this paper to help him out). I just re-read his final draft and I'm so ticked off he swiped things from dh's paper, some of the stuff in his paper his just plain wrong (for example he states something to the effect of "pilots will not be able to commute in on the same day they work" or something like that). He swiped the flow charts dh made (though at least he gave him credit for that).

But what really ticks me off is that dh's bosses have wanted him to work with this guy (which is fine) and now they (dh and other guy) are giving a presentation to some folks in the company cp type people I think and they sent out this other guys paper as something to read before the prsention (fyi other guy will be at presentation to helping to give it). It just ticks me off that dh's bosses love it so much when half of it was taken from dh's. To be fair dh's bosses didn't say dh's was bad or anything like that, it just annoys me... a lot!

I'm so excited that my Hubby let me know about this site! It's great to have somewhere to go and vent or to pass on wisdom/advice to others in need. Me and my DH are newly married (just under 2 months) and he just started training for his new job with American Eagle. So many changes for us in such a short amount of time! This is his first airline job, and it's going to take a lot of getting used to. His training is at DFW, but he was informed that his base is going to be JFK. Not what we were hoping for since he'll be commuting from AZ and I'm sure will be on reserve to start out. If anyone has any tips to make the first year (which I've heard is definitely the toughest) any easier, please let me know.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!
