Do you guys remember those books, "Life's Little Instruction Book?" I think they were published in the early 90's. I really liked reading through them, and had written out some of my favorites and posted them on my bulletin board in my bedroom back in the day. One of the pieces of advice that really sticks out was,

"Love deeply and passionately. You may get hurt, but it's the only way to live life fully."

(Or, something like that.)

my favorite has always been the ones about "don't let the sun go down on your anger," "never turn down a hug, you don't know if it's the last one you'll be giving or getting from that person," "if you had one last phone call to make, who would it be to and what would you say?"

and along those lines, when hubby is working or driving or away from me for any reason, i always make sure to really say i love you and truly mean it - and to leave any issues for when we'll see eachother face to face -or for when i know we'll have enough time to talk them over and still get to a good place again before hanging up...god forbid something happened after having a terrible fight with him on the phone in between flights...kind of a morbid thought, but i'd feel much better knowing that the last thing i told him was how much he means to me and how much i love him.

My favorites are " Never go to bed angry", "Never sleep in separate beds unless you are in separate places" and always say I love you and give a hug when you leave because you never know what can happen before you see each other again.

I remember after the Columbine shootings I have always given my kids an extra hug when they go to school. Because you never know.......

you are and always should maintain yourself as best friends.... because when the husband/wife have bad days, the best friend relationship will help stabilize it....kindof like a yin/yang relationship.

i actually think more work needs to be put into the best friend portion of the relationship vs the man/wife because it's the fact that he/she is your best friend that is going to help you get through some of your darkest moments....husband/wife is just an added extra plus in my opinion.

also, always say "I" love you.. because "love you" seems so rushed and not as meaningful.
