I was reading through this post a little bit and I agree with everyone how being married to, engaged to, or dating a pilot is all about quality time. it took me a little time before i actually understood this because when my DF was first away alot, i would sometimes feel like i was missing out on a lot with regards to a relationship and i would sometimes feel slightly abandoned (on days that i was having a hard time with things). it takes some time to get used to this unique relationship and plus with things constantly changing, I don't think a person can ever [i:da1dbebb89]totally[/i:da1dbebb89] get used to this lifestyle but I can't imagine being with anyone else so we make it work.

i guess eventually you just learn to deal with it all somehow. plus it never hurts to look at the positive side of things. i mean, i get great travel benefits and my DF looks really good in his uniform, and I can do things at home by myself that I would never do if he were home, like leave the dirty laundry on the floor or forget about the dishes, or that kind of thing.

Gotta communicate!

I try to call Kristie between flights or at least when I get to the layover hotel so she can remember someone's out there!

Mostly it's for me because as a pilot, you live in this strange world where you can be in a crowd of a thousand people, but still be alone and it gets amazingly lonely when you're on the road. At first it wasn't that big of a deal, but once I got married and 'saw the light', I get homesick pretty often and knowing that I can call home or call her office helps greatly.

Ok, enough with all my Dr. Phil touchy-feelie stuff!

Awwwww Doug - you're a sweetie.

I hope Eric's like that when he finally gets "on the road." (I'm sure he will be.)
