Default Valentine's Day

The holiday is nearly upon us! I don't suppose anyone knows their significant other's schedule, yet, but what plans do you have if you end up being together? Apart? Gift ideas?

I guess we are fuddy duddies, but we don't do much for V-day. sometimes we do cards, or go out if we are together, but it hasn't ever been a big deal to us. Maybe if he is home we will try to make it more of a big deal date night, After the baby we won't get very many date nights for awhile. So many we should whoop it up a little.

Yeah- I should dig up the V-Day post from last year. It's not that I don't like Valentine's Day, I just think there should be more than 1 day to say "I Love You"- it should be all the time! It is so commercial and you have to look for that 'special gift' for the one you love. Blech! We're trying to save money for all the stuff that will be happening in 2008 for us! For those of you who go all out on Valentine's Day- enjoy. Nick may or may not be home, but it doesn't matter- every day is Valentine's Day!

And I do recall I said pretty much the same thing last year, and then Nick went and sent a dozen roses to my work. It was such a sweet thought but I don't need that to know he loves me.
Plus we could have used the $$$ for something else!

We don't do anything for valentines day... for one thing, we see it as a "hallmark/buy jewelry" holiday (people are even putting up valentines lights now on their houses? that's like... uhhh... kinda weird) and it's a holiday for parents to get out for a once a year date.

We tend to make everyday valentines day and not just have any one day exclusive for anything.. heck, sometimes christmas comes in June or sometimes we cook the thanksgiving feast in March...some other time than the actual holiday...haha

we're weird like that and i'm not a big commercialized holiday fan, i guess.

yeah, we really don't do much. But I do have to say that sometimes out of the blue cupid heads my way. I plan a dinner and then a really decadent desert. No gifts, just a card. And certainly no lights outside the house, that is weird!
This yr I think I'm going to try and find a sitter, my in laws and see if they'll watch he gand so that Eric and I can head to our lake house for a night. If he's home. He did bid it off for me, how sweet, but award aren't out for a day or 2 more.

BF is 1000 miles away in TX right now finishing up his commercial and is scheduled to take his instrument check ride Friday. I'm hoping he'll be home for V-day *crosses fingers* but he's still got to finish up the last of his hours and tests before he can be home for good.

So... if he's able to be home in time, I'll be making him something... but I'm not going to say too much because he gets on here sometimes

We do not exchange gifts either. We usually "indulge" and eat dinner just the two of us after the kids go to bed!

Before we had our DD we would go out to eat or cook something special at home, but now since we have Chloe` we celebrate with her too! We include her in our valentine's dinner and we get her a few little things like candy and a small valentine toy or something and we make a valentine dessert together.

Last year we were together so I got up and made him breakfast at the like 4 in the morning before he went to work and then gave him a card. He made me a homemade card. It was so cute and I love it more then anything else. He got home late that night so we just had dinner together at the house. Nothing to fancy. He hates the holiday as well because he thinks that it is too commercialized. I don't really care either way. We won't be together this year so maybe I will send him a card or something. I like to send really funny ones so that I know he will get a kick out of it Other then that we won't really be doing anything. He has a b-day a week before that so I do stuff for his birthday but not anything to big for valentines day.

We're both sort of sick of getting "stuff" for holidays, so we tend to celebrate by doing something, instead. The chances of us being together on or near the holiday are very slim, but I hope that if we can swing it, he will take me dancing I love to dance, but hardly ever get to do it with my favorite partner!
