I feel bad b/c I thought we 'agreed' to not do anything this year. I got him a very small card and a small box of chocolates. Ialso made him a home made Valentine he'll get tomorrow when he comes home. I feel kind of bad for not doing more.
No no! Don't! That's why people complain about Valentine's Day, because of the perceived pressure. It's not a competition. Making the Valentine is plenty! People who do things on Vday do it because it can be fun to do something for someone. Nick sent you the roses because it probably made him happy to think of you getting them. Who doesn't like surprises?

Well, some don't, but you know what i mean.

Try to look at it as having been given a reason to make the card, and to have the fun of giving it to him. Imagine being him, and getting the card. Wouldn't it be enough?

Wouldn't it be perfect?

Well jeez, OK. Don't get all excitable!
You are right- it gave Nick great pleasure to send me the roses.
And about people coming to my desk to see the roses- I didn't say a word to my co-workers. Word got out and people came over to check it out. A client sent me flowers on Monday so I had 2 bouquets. I looked like I was running a flower shop at my desk.

This is my second V-day with my fiance. Last year, we had just started dating, the month earlier, and we hadn't even kissed yet!! We made plans for V-day, but then he got called to work last minute, so, we didn't get to spend it together...

This year, he has a military trip and is overseas...the night before he left, he told me he had to run to the store, and came back with roses and a V-day card for me. I love that he thought ahead like that. He called me at work yesterday (first time I had heard from him since he left) and wished me Happy V-day. It wasn't V-day here, but was where he was.

It is so funny to think that this time last year we hadn't even kissed! And now we are engaged!! It rocks!!! Can't believe how life can change so quickly! So, I am at home with my daughter (who is sleeping) enjoying the thread, thinking about good times, and counting the days till my DF comes home!!

Doug took me on a quick vegas getaway this past weekend....he thought it would be nice to get away and found a $350 roundtrip, 1 day at planet hollywood deal on US airways... so we flew guaranteed seats up and back...and he wont the jackpot that i've always wanted to win. overall, i think we came home with 3.5K since doug won a royal flush on a $1 video poker!

we can now afford doug's new(er) car. his grand am just blew a water something and is overheating all the time. so it's perfect timing.

not bad for a pre-valentines day weekend that we never truly celebrate. Other than that, i put a homemade card in his suitcase this week....i have no idea if he found it yet or not. haha

I'm feeling a bit pathetic this morning! Money is tight for us at the moment so I made a big thing about not going overboard/it's all a card sellers' scam/it's not about real romance (all of which I believe!). And he took that on board and got me a card and a small book. And somehow I feel kind of narked that he didn't do anything else, and found myself thinking, 'well, he could have at least got a cheap bunch of tulips!', which is just crazy! Especially since we did get to spend the evening together for the 1st time ever in our relationship! So I'm annoyed with myself for being silly!
Oh and Kristie - $3.5k?! Damn that's amazing! Hope you can treat yourselves a little bit as well as pay for the car!

My honey is easy to please. I baked a box cake with strawberries and cream icing.

I was suprised with white roses and a black cashmere robe, I am spoiled! We have been scrimping like crazy and it was nice to feel a bit of a splurge. Then we just made a normal dinner and watched are favorite shows and hung out at home. That's special to us!!!

My poor SO got two teeth pulled on Tuesday morning. I spent the week taking care of him, and Valentines day was the first day he could start eating normal food again - so I made him a special dinner, and gave him a card.

He made me a wonderful card (I couldn't stop smiling for hours after reading it!) and got me a pair of dwarf hamsters. We don't have kids yet and we didn't have any pets so I tended to get lonely with him gone. I grew up with a ton of animals/pets, too, so I was missing that a lot. They're adorable, and he get me an awesome habitat for them and all the fixings to go with it. I got them some more treats on the way home today, too. I can tell they're going to be spoiled!

We watched the hammies goof around, and watched Mythbusters and a movie. It was a great day!

Gosh, I feel like a big loser. We didn't do anything, Lance did call on his way to the airport to tell happy v-day. I really want a day a the spa so I told him not to get me anything, b/c thats what I wanted. But I we could have done cards....Our anniversary is on the 22 so I think we are doing dinner then.

We were in Harris Teeter, when BF exclaimed, "OH, now I have to get you something for VDay..." seriously, it was the night before, he usually pulls through but really last minute...hahahha...I totally thought he was going to say, "Pick it out..." but we were just laughing so hard in the middle of grocery store about that one...

He did pull through though the next morning...I went to my class, and came home to some lovely pink roses, chocolate, and a 'handwritten' card from Kenzie (although, I think BF had a little to do with it!)
