The Dating Game

It's not easy dating a pilot...We've all been there at one time or another.

If your currently dating a pilot of any age, no matter where he/she is in their career then you'll find this forum helpful.

A lot of experience from those who have *been there, done that* can be obtained in this forum.

I'm so jealous! I met Alton once myself, but I had to stand in line for 2 hours.

Neat! Is he trying to earn a private license? Maybe he was extra quirky b/c he was out of his element and perhaps caught off guard?

Yeah, he is trying to earn some hours or something. I didn't talk to him much, but he is my BF's culinary hero, so he was extremely excited. He was a really nice guy though. I will just have to watch his show more I guess.... maybe he can teach me a thing or two!

If you like quirky nerdiness coupled w/ cooking, you'll LOVE his shows. He is a veritable culinary encyclopedia. If you don't learn at least one thing while watching his shows you either already know it all or you weren't paying any attention.

Sorry I'm late jumping in here...if he is on medical leave and flying corporate he must have a second class medical? I 'm jealous I wish I could watch his show but until the house is done no cable, so pretty much no good channels!

I know you want this topic stopped, but I have to say this first: you are being very naive. Pilot or not, he is lying to you. He is looking for a way out of your relationship, but a way to keep the "sex or intimacy" going when he is in town. The reason why so many posted and offered their insights or their help to find out if he is a real pilot is because they know what and how a pilot acts, and he is just not all the so-called pilot positions that he is claiming...yes, he may flight instruct or even work with an occassional corporate job, but you really sound like you don't want to know the truth on him. Kristie offered just to check him out, but you refuse. I think that deep down, you know he isn't a pilot for Delta. I also think you know he is blowing you off, but you just can't let the relationship or hope of a relationship go because you care about him and would rather hang on to some of him (even if he is lying to you) rather than lose all of him. He keeps on telling you that he is doing it for you...yawn....that is such a line to make himself feel better. You have been going out with him a whole 2 months....you have the rest of your life ahead of you. Stop wasting your time on a lying so-called pilot that doesn't want to have a permanent relationship with you. His explainations translate like the following, if you would just open up your eyes and read between the lines: "I really don't want to pursue this relationship, but you insist we stay together. I keep telling you I am moving out of town, in order to have an excuse to break up. I don't want to be the bad guy, so I keep telling you I am doing this for you and that it isn't fair to you. I want to keep my options open in case I meet someone else. You aren't worth me waiting for...on the otherhand, I still want to sleep with you when I am in town. So, as long as you are believing my lies and I know I have you wrapped around my finger, then I will keep playing this game...but don't count on me keeping you after I find someone else."

Sorry this sounds so harsh, but everyone has tried to tell you nicely, but you just won't listen. So, now I am telling you without mixing words. He is using you and lying to you. As soon as he finds someone else, he will be moving on. Do yourself a favor and just let him go.

Honestly, I do trust him, I have seen everything I need to see. I really do with that everyone would stop being so skeptical. I do appreciate all the advice, but I've got it figured out now. He has explained it me, it all makes sense, I just can't explain it. So, thank you all, and I do appreciate it.
I sure hope we are just being skeptical. You need to understand members on this board do not usually sit and pick apart other members' relationships. There just seems to be a lot of red flags here and nobody is trying to be mean. But it is your life, and you are going to do what you want even if we sit here and talk to you until we are blue in the face (or rather, type).

with that said.... good luck!
