It's not easy dating a pilot...We've all been there at one time or another.

If your currently dating a pilot of any age, no matter where he/she is in their career then you'll find this forum helpful.

A lot of experience from those who have *been there, done that* can be obtained in this forum.

Smile I'm his person!

So, yesterday I was on the phone with my boyfriend (who is currently in training for American Eagle) and he got all serious and said something like we need to talk.

Anyway...

I'm sure you all already know this but you can put down one person to be...I don't even know what the proper term is...able to fly on the airlines for practically nothing. Well, he put me as that person. It made me feel incredibly special and like it was some sort of form of commitment lol I guess that's as close to marriage as we can get for now.

My name's on it for a year. It was really cute, after he told me the year long status he got all jokingly meek and said, "That means you have to be nice to me for a year now ya know."

I'm not sure if this warranted an entire thread but I just wanted to share it because I was so happy and couldn't find anywhere else to fit it in.

Yay!

That's so sweet! I wonder if he was nervous before he told you. ha!

(Now I'm imagining a guy practicing in front of a mirror:

"I, uh...well, y'see, I can choose one person to...No. Uh - Hi! Hi, there. [clears throat] So, you know how I'm a pilot, and all? Well...")

He should check with the pass bureau and ask them when a card or notification will be sent to you.

they are typically called "companion passes" or "domestic partner passes" just so you know!

Congratulations...you must feel great and he must feel very relieved to know you feel the same way bout him!

Mesa doesn't give companion passes :-(. But I'm the recipient of his life insurance, not that I ever want THAT to happen!

Congrats! I felt the same way when Nick put me on as his "Designated Travel Companion". He gave me his logon info for the Crew website so I checked it out.... my name was right there! It made me feel pretty important in his life. He rolled his eyes and said "well who do you THINK I was going to put on there?!".

I think my bennies started pretty quickly but I can't remember and unfortunately I haven't used them yet. The 1st time will be my trip to Glasgow Scotland at the end of the month!

Jetboy - that's so cool Great next step... wish everyone else could have an in-between step like that!

Lara,
I was talking with SO about buddy passes... lol, he finally talked with flight tracking about them... and he said hadn't had much time to read all the stuff they'd given him about them but also they told him there IS actually some sort of partner pass with Mesa. Don't know if it'll apply to you and I yet, but I'll sure keep you posted!
