| Jetgirls Member | I'm so sad that I hadn't seen this thread til today. I'm loving reading these stories! Kevin and I met online the summer after my freshman year of high school (1998). We had no intention of ever meeting, as he was in New Jersey and I was in California. We just enjoyed talking. Flash forward to graduation... When I told Kevin where I had chosen to go for college (UMass Amherst), he surprised me by saying it was just two hours away from his own school (Daniel Webster College). My mom flew to Massachusetts with me to get me settled into my dorm. I was feeling very small and lonely the day she left, so Kevin drove down and helped me set up my new computer. Our first real date was to Six Flags with his roommates. I hate, loathe, and despise roller coasters. If there is anything I dislike more, it's large groups of strangers, which is what his friends were to me. But it was the first thing he'd asked me to do with him and I was afraid if I said no, he might never ask again. So I said yes. He didn't know how much the day traumatized me until we'd been officially dating for months. Nothing like starting a relationship with a great big lie! ![]() Our second date was infinitely better, so I usually tell people about it, instead. He picked me up at the airport near my school and flew me up to New Hampshire for ice cream, which is one of my most favorite things. Imagine my roommate's surprise when I came back to the dorm a couple hours later, she asked where we'd gone, and I named a neighboring state!

| Can I just say that SO many people here met their guys when they were YOUNG! I didn't meet mine until I was 25 and 3 years later (nearly) we still aren't even engaged. A lot of online meetings as well So cool how we can find people these days!We met online as well(on myspace) when I was about to visit Australia on vacation. I looked up some people in Sydney (mostly cute guys) and emailed them asking about fun things to do, etc. My BF and I started chatting and talked for hours upon hours before I arrived. WHen I got here we met up and hung out 5 of the 7 days I was here. We both agree that our first "official" date was at a little cafe one night on my first trip out here. We just wanted to go sit somewhere and talk so we went to the cafe and both of us just ordered pineapple juice. We did go out a few more times after that- but that was our official first date. I was devestated when I had to leave and within the first week back to CA, I had already booked another trip to sydney for just 3 months later. I wrote more of our story of how we met on my blog (because we get asked A LOT seeing as how we are from different countries) Elsja’s Bloggity Blog How We Met I love reading everyone's stories. I have to say... the mystery date/ice skating in the park is a great one. Mine's not that exciting- but it was very sweet in its own way! |

| MY DH and I met when I transferred schools in the 9th grade. I was 14 and he was 15. We were really good friends but never dated. He left school after our junior year and got his GED so he could start college a year early. I was so bummed he wasn't going to be back for our senior year. We emailed each other a few times that year, and when he came home for summer vacation my best friend and I went to his house to see him. (I was 17 about to be 18 and he was 19 by then)He called me a few days later and asked if I wanted to go see a movie. So our first date was to watch Signs, and I can't even remeber if we went out to eat or not! We made it "official" before he went back to school in August, and we got married the following July!

| Andrew and I met during my first few weeks at college in nh when a friend of his invited me along to their friend's birthday dinner (too bad for his friend cause Andrew totally stole the show for me). i never really thought i'd get a chance to see him again though since he was a junior and didn't seem to have any interest in a freshman. a week or two later i was having trouble in my flight ops course with VORs (i was originally going to school for aviation ops, but it got to be too expensive so i switched to engineering) and my instructor mentioned this Andrew that i should seek out for help. turns out it was the same guy! he agreed to help out and totally won me over with his over-obsessive knowledge of anything aircraft and theatrical storytelling. some other things got in the way though and it ended up that we didn't start officially dating until the start of my sophomore year. he told me later that he didn't express any interest in me the night we met because he knew a bunch of other guys were probably going after the new freshmen girls (there's like a 5 to 1 ratio of guys to girls at my school). so, for the first date, we went plane watching! of course, he knew MHT's schedule so he planned it out so we'd get there for rush hour. he named all the planes and i tried to keep up and he'd let me guess them before he told me what they were. we still do this everytime a plane flies over! can you tell i don't have any girls to talk to up here? |

My own little story is that we went to the mall with my ex-best friend and her brother and some other dude that I can't remember the name of on December 16th, 2006 and then when we left, he and I ended up making out in the backseat of my ex-best friend's car. What a cliche and/or cheesy, teenage date lol.

| Our first date was a 70's themed bowling night fraternity function. He walked in with the TIGHTEST plaid pants on that I have ever seen. They ended up ripping at the end of the night all the way down his backside, haha. Needless to say, it went well because that was six years ago and we are now happily married! |

| Our first date was at a very nice restaurant (read....DH trying to be romantic and well, you know ) Everything was wonderful...the food....the ambiance....until he went to pay for the check. Ahem....seems he left his wallet in his flight bag for his trip the next day. Yep, I had to pay the bill. We still laugh about it. He thought he'd never see me again....ahhh, true love ![]() |

| Member | I've told him that our first date was the best first date I've ever been on. We met online but didn't hang out until 6 months after. I was dating someone when we first met, another pilot actually that wasn't flying at the time. Needless to say we didn't work out and when the time came I decided to give it a go and he came to pick me up at my apartment around 2pm on a Sunday. We went and got smoothies. He began talking about his time flying air ambulance and how it was scary but really great when they would pick up moms just about to give birth. (I thought that was the greatest) We then went to the zoo which was almost closed, then went to hit a bucket of balls, hit up the batting cages, sat down had a drink and talked some more. Then finally went to play shuffleboard at this really nice joint on the west side of Madison. I finally got home around 11pm. He gave me a kiss at my door, well a few actually, and that's where it all started ![]() My best first date ever. |
