At the time my FH was working for a TV station in Des Moines. He got off of work late and came over to my house to discuss where we were going to go. By the time he got to my place, most of the restaurants were already closed.

We then decided to go to the Airport in Ames to see his favorite airplane. Now at the time, I had never been close to any airplane. I am also scared to death of flying, so that idea didnt really sound like that much fun. But he finally convinced me to go to the airport. When we arrived, it was pitch black. It is a small airport and there was no traffic at the time. Looking back I was a little worried, I had seen horror movies that started this way. Anyway we got out of the car and stood by the fence next to the runways. He then handed me what looked like a Walkie Talkie. He told me to press the side button 7 times and something would happen. I did as I was told and I was so amazed. All of the taxi lights and runway lights lit up right in front of me. It looked like hundreds of stars that lit up just for me. We stood there for a while looking at them while he described what they all meant. Sounds kind of dorky but it was really sweet.

Okay I loved reading all the stories. Now I want to share mine. We also meet online. I had to 'hit' on him first. It is funny. I still give him crap about it. We met up with each other at a martini bar that I had never been to before. As soon as I walked in the door he stood up from the table and came over to me with a big smile on his face. We ordered our drinks and sat there and talked forever. It was a lot of fun.
We have talked about it since and he tells me that when he first saw me he thought that he would never see me again because he thought that I was to good for him. I just smile when he tells me that!

Before we started dating, my DB was my last CFI for my PPL! So we spent 5 months doing long cross-countries sitting about two inches apart in a tiny little Cessna 150! ("You know, I don't really need more time--but I think I do need a little more practice...!" )

We finally couldn't stand being just great friends--and our first "date" was participating in a Dragonboat race together at the request of a mutual friend who needed two more last-minute crew-members for his team. Needless to say, our team won gold in both amateur categories--and my DB won his first kiss!

BTW, the emoticon list has been quite a source of amusement over the past few minutes! Yes, I am bored-- but the little dude hiding behind the couch? The chick pulling hair out of her head? The popcorn? The bouncy Santa frog? TOO funny!

i am such a sap about these things. i met my bf online via yahoo! personals. he actually messaged me, and we chit chatted online for about a week before he asked me out to dinner. at that time he was a senior in college, majoring in aviation management (already a CFI, etc.) and i was in my last year of graduate school. we went to olive garden and then rented "gothika" to watch at his place.

our second date is more memorable, i went over around noon to watch the OU football game and didn't leave until the next morning. we stayed in all day watching tv and getting to know one another...before we knew it it was 2am and i passed out at his place. we've been dating for 13 months now, he's an fo for expressjet and i'm looking to move and move in with him sometime in the near future.

speaking of, if anyone has any job ideas for counseling related jobs in the spring/tomball/woodlands/conroe/houston area of texas let me know. being an oklahoma girl, i'm having a hard time with this long distance job hunt.

Talking Re: Something lighter: What was dh/bf first date?

I met Ryan at the Apple store at the mall while I was looking for a new laptop, and he was getting his iPhone fixed. He asked for my number, called a few days later, and we talked every night for two weeks until at least 3 am. Boy was I tired! Finally... we went out to dinner at this Mexican place called Pure. It wasn't very good, but we talked and we had a lot of fun. He then took me to this park on the river. We walked around, sat on this picnic table and played "slaps", and talked until about 4 am!! It was the most amazing first date I have ever had. Not to mention the first kiss .... I never want to kiss another man ever again!!!

My brother set us up on a blind date...he (my brother) was the assistant wrestling coach at OSU, and my hubby was a wrestler. Hubby was the only wrestler that my brother thought was decent enough to date me. So, without a picture, we decided to go on a date.

We went out on a Friday...I insisted that we don't do the movie thing, since you can't talk. We went to a putt-putt/games place. Then, we went and got ice cream and walked around campus. We went back to the apartment that my brother and I were roomies and we talked until 3 am. Everyone thought that both of us would never talk, but we couldn't stop talking. We had so much in common. In fact, I knew on that date that he was the one for me. I wrote a letter to myself the next day that he was the one I was going to marry. Figure that...it only took 4 years later (ha ha) and a couple break-ups before we decided that we simply couldn't be without each other.

Our first kiss was over a month or so later...he told me that he was thinking about kissing me, and I told him "not unless you feel like getting slapped!" I explained that I wouldn't kiss just anyone...So, we ended up dating exclusively (although we had been dating exclusively all along, but now it was official)and finally had our first kiss after a walk by the lake over a month or so after that first date.

We have been married for 8 years, but have been together for 12 (almost 13) years now. One of the big things I liked about him was that he wanted a big family. Well, I guess it was fate because we are now pregnant with our 7th child.
