You don't even need to spend a ton of money. Target has a great selection of curtains! | |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Anytime I want to buy some kind of trinket or something it isn't "are you going to dust it?" its "are the cats going to break it?" And most likely, they will try, and usually succeed. We do have curtains though, but no blinds, once again, because of the cats! They chew on the blinds, but they don't climb the curtains! |

| Jetgirls Member | My DH comes home to something new when he leaves for extended times. He would do NOTHING to maintain/ improve the house - it would mean spending money. Last time I bought a minivan - HELLO - we had four kids at the time, and I had the bedrooms, dining room and entry painted. This time I had the paint freshened in dining room and entry and had wood laminate flooring put in my dining room. I also bought a "new" TV and TV armoire at our neighbors "Moving to California" sale. You now know more than he does. He told one of our friends that I had the bedroom painted dark blue because I get headaches and it would make the room darker - LOL. Actually that is just the color my SIL and I liked. He gets a line and I plan on having the kitchen painted too! |

| Jetgirls Member | Quick note of good news! Just got results for the new bid period, and next month DH has a LINE out of IAD, and after that he gets a reserve line (supposed to be better than reserve, but not as good as a line???) out of Charlotte. DH is REALLY excited and optimistic, and says that we should get to see each other much more often now, and his QOL should GREATLY improve! Anything's got to be better than the 6 days on, 1 day off schedule! He says the first month is always hell, but it should get better from now on...I hope he's right! (Amanda should know if this is the Mesa-truth or not )I'm (apprehensively ) excited about it though! |

| Is a reserve line the same thing as a composite line? At AE, a composite line is a line that is composed of pieces of other line. Like if a pilot requests a day off, he will sometimes have to give up an entire trip, which could be include several different legs. Then they put a bunch of trips together to make up the composite lines. This way, you know which trips you're going to fly in advance, you just won't have the same trips all month, like you would on a regular line. If that's the case, I have to say that it is so much better than reserve, in my opinion. We could actually try to start planning our lives a little. It was a welcome change. I hope now that he's starting to see that there can be an improvement in QOL with regard to schedule, that he's feeling less bummed. It's hard to be supportive and say the right things when you're at home feeling pretty bummed about the whole thing too. But this is good news! |

| Jetgirls Member | I really don't know what a reserve line IS...I asked and he explained, but I was on the elliptical at the time and alot of that is out the window! All I know is that he DOES have a predictable schedule with one, and that's all I care about right now! The rest can come later. It's so hard to remember what all the different scheduling and bids and pay stuff is. I'm still getting used to mine: weekend/evening/night/holiday differentials, diamond plan pay, flex pay, pool nurse pay, swat nurse pay...and then I've got all this new pilot stuff! It's enough to drive you nuts. He's happy, so I'm happy! |

Reserve is like being "on call". They give your bf a set timeframe where he is their B!&@& and if they need him they use him. The trouble is the time usually suck (i.e on reserve wayyyy early or wayyyy late). They also try to mess with the contract and call them when they aren't supposed to. Your bf should NOT answer the phone under any circumstances if he is "off"! Your BF probably has a "mixed line" which is part scheduled, and part reserve. I wish you luck with the QOL. Nick had a pretty crappy QOL for the entire 3.5 yrs he was there and I heard it got worse because of all the pilots leaving. Who knows- hope I'm wrong. Like I mentioned in previous posts, in 2006 we saw each other a few days each month. here was a time when he was based in PHX so we got to actually live together and see each other... that was nice, but didn't last very long. Just see Mesa as his stepping stone to bigger and better things. That's the way I looked at it!

| Jetgirls Member | Oh I know reserve, BELEIVE me! That's what we've been dealing with thus-far. As for what the "reserve line" is, that's where I get confused. He's already learned not to answer the phone when he's off...in fact he has all the crew-tracking numbers identified in his phone under not-so-nice names that I think are pretty funny! So Amanda, you got to see him a few days out of a month when he lived in PHX with you, or when he was elsewhere? I'll be ecstatic for a few days/month...that's all we usually have anyways. I definately DO NOT view Mesa as a place to stay, and neither does he. We're on the "get out of Mesa ASAP even if that means I don't get to see you much right now" plan, lol. |

| Jetgirls Member | Okay, I can deal with a few days a month. I'd prefer more, of course... but a few days a month is better than we've had even before Mesa, when we lived a 6 hour drive away from each other and our schedules clashed 'cause he was in school and I was starting my nursing career. We can do this! And I'm so glad I have you guys to help and talk to! |
