| The Dating Game It's not easy dating a pilot...We've all been there at one time or another. If your currently dating a pilot of any age, no matter where he/she is in their career then you'll find this forum helpful. A lot of experience from those who have *been there, done that* can be obtained in this forum. |

| My boyfriend and I are pretty serious, and we both know the strain which can be placed on a "pilot family" (the non-pilot being 2 parents while the other is away, careers, kids, etc). HE'S the one who found this site for me after I expressed my worries for the future! I am extremely lucky to have someone like him (I, like most, had my stereotypes about pilots in general, and have been happily proven wrong) and a site like this to compare stories and know there are others who are living the same type of life I am! What a relief . My guy is currently an FO at DCA, waiting for his turn to upgrade. Anyone in the MD/DC/NoVa area feel free to hit me up! I'd love to hear from people in similar situations, or married couples who make it happily work. |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Welcome! I found this site about 3 years ago after dating my pilot (we've been together since 10/2002). Nick is a Captain on the ERJ and works at Mesa. It is one crappy company (more on that later). I met him when he was a CFI/CFII/MEI (flight instructor) in Phoenix. He then got a job at Mesa and became a Beech 1900 FO, then a CRJ FO, and about a month ago got his upgrade. We are both from the Philly area but met while we were both living here in AZ (met on an airplane!). Unfortunately in order to upgrade to Cpt he had to move back to the East Coast flying out of IAD. He lives in Reston, VA not too far from you I think. This is a weird lifestyle. The best advice is STAY BUSY and keep the communication going. I think we have a pretty darn great relationship. The way it is now he is on reserve and doesn't have more than 1 day off at a time, so I probably won't see him for months. We talk every day, text message, picture message, email-- you name it. I have my hobbies (golf, kickboxing, biking), part time jobs, home business, and fo out wth friends on the weekends. I miss him a lot, but I know that at some point we'll be happily living in the same place. Sorry for the babbling. Welcome! Amanda |

| Welcome!! DH is a FO and flies ERJ for XJEt. This site has been a great support and help understanding and learning how to cope day to day in the industry. One thing I have learned from this site is that despite the stereotypes, most pilots are "family men" and fiercely devoted to their wives and kids. And pilot wives, are very strong independent women that love their men and are willing to support them to pursue their dream. And in the mean time, we don't just keep things afloat, but we thrive for our kids, for our significant other's and for ourselves. But for me, it has all been made easier by this board, knowing there are others like me out there. Welcome!!

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Welcome! My DH is a CA for Continental Express (aka ExpressJet) and he is based in Cleveland...we live in NH. He is hoping to go to a major at some point.....we'll see if that ever happens in this industry I have been with him since he started his Multi rating (I think....) so I have almost been there from the beginning. I guess I knew what I was getting myself into, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I miss him when he is gone, but I really do enjoy my time alone sometimes He will try to work extra trips right before summer so he can have most of the summer of with me (I am a teacher) which is nice. No kids yet, maybe this year or next.....The lifestlye is interesting to say the least, and most people will never "get it" but that is what we are here for! Good Luck! Welcome again ![]() |

| Hello. I am Felicia. My husband is an FO for UPS. We live in Louisville, KY. I'm still pretty new to the pilot life, but I'm getting used to it. It definitely helps to know there are others out there experiencing the same things and still making it. The people on here are very helpful and friendly and will make you feel right at home! Welcome to the board! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Hey, I'm Sarah. My husband is a flight instructor. We started dating in high school, so I have been with him since the private rating. He has thought about staying as a flight instructor for awhile so we can get started somewhere before he goes to an airline. He has 935 hours now, so is getting close. Welcome to the board! |
