| So last night, a little past 1 am, I wake up absolutly freaking out because it felt like something had been shaking the bed. I'd never been so freaked in my life, I got up, did the middle of the night house search to make sure that yes, I really was alone! My first thought was, "OMG we just had an earthquake!" but this is Illinois, we don't have earthquakes here! Right? Wrong! I turn on the morning news to the headlines of an earthquake measuring 4.5 having rocked Illinois! My parents in SW Wisconsin didn't feel it, but there were reports of it being felt from Madison to Milwaukee to Valparasio to St. Louis! I'm sure you folks from California who are used to this are probably thinking "4.5? Bah, that's nothing!" It was really creepy though, I ended up sleeping the baby's room because I was so freaked! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | yep, I heard about that on the news today! supposedly it was even felt over here in western michigan (i'm at johns right now) but i didn't feel it...they said at the same time another earthquake rocked alaska at 6.7 but they were unrelated. I've never been in a noticible earthquake, i bet that would be super scary... |

| I just called my Mom who lives in central IL and she slept through it. I'm hoping to catch something on the TV about it now. I am in the middle of a book called "The Rift". It's about an earthquake along the New Madrid Fault line. Most people forget that it exists. |

| I'm in Cali and I've never even been in an earthquake, so you have one up on me. I am actually looking forward to my first earthquake. And 4.5 is pretty big, I think, even for Californians. |

| I'm not an easily freaked out person, this just scared the crap out of me because it woke me from a dead sleep in such an unusual way! Let's face it, when the bed is rockin' and I'm home alone & no funny business is going on, it gets my attention! I'm used to Bill being gone all the time, so spending nights alone is normal. But DAMN it freaked me out! I was just so glad to see on the news this morning that it really [i:666db8a237]was[/i:666db8a237] an earthquake and I wasn't imagining it or dreaming it or something. I finally got to tell Bill about it about an hour ago, he got illegally re-routed in ATL last night because of all the rain 'n crap there so he hadn't heard anything about it. Here's a link to a local TV station's story about it: http://www.nbc5.com/news/3467627/det...mp;dppid=65192 |

| Jetgirls Member | I slept through my one and only earthquake. I had a layover in Ontario, CA and there was an earthquake in the middle of the night. I didn't turn the TV or radio on the next morning. I was in the hotel van with 3 Southwest F/As and heard about it from them. So, I can say that I've been through an earthquake... I just can't describe it. Dianne |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Kristie- Do you remember the earthquake in Oct 1999? It was actually in CA but the strong aftershocks were felt in AZ. I had recently moved to this state and never thought I would feel an earthquake! I remember waking up in the middle of the night and the feeling that "something" picked up my bed off the ground and dropped it and I also heard my window blinds moving. I can completely relate to being "freaked out"!! I thought it was a dream until I saw it on the news the next morning! That was my one and only experience with earthquakes! |
