| So my Northeast HR Coordinator got married and is on her honeymoon. She kept telling me that my Southeast HR Coordinator would help me with anything that is needed. My boss (the owner) wants me to have the benefit plans restructured by next week, begin searching for an executive director for our foundation along with a VP of Marketing. Plus he wants me to complete a staffing analysis and develop new HR metrics. OK, that's good. I do that kind of stuff. But I don't know how to do the HR Coordinator's job since I'm new and since it's all too much on top of my job. No problem--I should not have to since I have the Southeast HR Coordinator to help. But guess what happened on Monday? So my Southeast HR Coordinator is living at her sister's in Miami since she has no power, water or phones. Plus two of her windows are gone so it's not safe. We have no idea about many of our staff since we can't reach them. Our facility has no water, no power and no phones. The emergency staff and the patients are hanging in. Our dining room is flooded and there were some leaks in the roof--but there is no structural damage. Now I just have to figure out how to get our employees paid since payroll is processed out of ADP in Ft. Lauderdale, banks are shut down and ATM's are not working. There is also no gas available since the pumps are powered by electricity. Did I tell you that I love my job? ![]() |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | OH MY! you sure do get hit with a lot of hurricanes at your job don't you?! Is there another ADP that can help? I would think, since they deal with paychecks, that they'd have another ADP managing for the Ft. Lauderdale since they're down!

| Now we're out of gasoline to run the generators. The nearest place to get gasoline is Orlando. How are we to care for our patients? How are our employees gonna hold up? Where is FEMA with generators to get the gas stations open? At a distribution center, people had to wait hours to get a bag of ice--why did they have to wait? There was no official FEMA representative to officate the distribution. Our tax dollars are definately not working for us! |

| Man, you have alot of your plate right now. The company must realize how competent you are or they wouldn't be putting it all on your shoulders. Although it's alot for ANYONE to take on. I hope you get some help with this soon. I guess there aren't enough news crews down there for FEMA to get off their butt about it. I guess if it were on CNN they might make an effort to not look bad. O.K. - now I want my money back from the union AND the government. I hope things get better down there soon. And I hope your load lightens as well. |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | Roz, is there anyway you can get your patients to a hosptial? I'm assuming the hospitals would have constant generators going and that could really help the situation?! I've got a few people in orlando I could talk to if you really need someone to drive down there and get them some gas/supplies!

| We're flying some staff down this morning--to arrive in Orlando, and try to secure some supplies. We are told that things are in short supply there too since the need has been so great. There is a 7 PM curfew since there is no power and, thus, no traffic lights. So we have to get gasoline, batteries, etc to them today. They all ran out of gasoline yesterday. That means no generator, no food preservation, no travel to get anything. Any places that had gasoline had 5 hour lines with no guarantee that you'd get your $20 rationed amount. There are no phones either. We've been communicating barely by people's cell phones. But now that they are out of gasoline for their cars too, they won't be able to keep them charged. It's so frustrating trying to get them help from 1,000 miles away. People didn't know where to go if they left. The problem with this storm is that a) no one knew where it would hit--they said it would come ashore on the western coast anywhere from Naples to Tampa; b) they said it would come ashore downgraded and continue to lose strength as it traveled across land--it hit Naples as a Category 3 and remained so as it traveled across the state; c) buildings are protected from storms from the east--this storm came from the west. |

| Well our guys got the 6:45 AM flight to Orlando and then got their van. They then went shopping--batteries, towels, chain saws, replacement blades, lights. But there were no gas cans in Orlando. So they ended up in Melborne where we could find two 55 gallon tanks and another rental truck to transport that. Then they were headed to Coconut Creek--we hoped they arrived before the 7 PM curfew. GW was in FL today--promising big support to bring in gasoline supplies. I guess his Mom didn't tell him that there is plenty of gasoline. It's just that, without generators for the gas stations, no one can pump it! Can I get a rebate on my taxes due to the idiocy of our leaders? |
