| I had a job with a great company. They said we were short staffed and I had to recruit. But they never listened to me in the first place about retaining a recruiter on the corporate level. The straw that broke the camel's back happened in June, when they told me I could not take my scheduled vacation--it was DH's vacation and his best friend was getting married. We planned to go up to Cape Cod for the wedding and on to the Bahamas for our vacation. All was paid for and I had to cancel it. So, I decdided that I had a choice. I could take a miserable existance or leave it. In July I decided to think about my options. I applied for two jobs. I got two job offers in August. I chose one and started on 9/19. I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it stays this way! I am in charge of HR for the Renfrew Center--we work with women with eating disorders: www.renfrewcenter.com I have renewed hope in keeping control of your life in this crazy world. | Admin/Owner ![]() | That is SO awesome Roz!!! I'm really glad everything worked out!!! Our company is going haywire right now...the office manager resigned, they just found a new one today (tells me that this may have been planned by corporate?)...and we're losing employees like crazy!! I'm at the point where I have to start looking around, altho i have to admit that i really like working with my team as we've finally found the 'niche' on how the team really works....so it's going to make it awfully difficult. So tell me something.. I have a desk (executive) I need to get rid of (ie: donate for taxes), can a person donate to causes like this? as in, actual furniture?? I'd much rather give it to a good cause like this or domestic violence or what not...that can use it vs giving it over to goodwill or what not.

Yes you can donate goods to charity. You can only declare the fair market value of them, not some inflated value. It's good though, because many charities have a hard time furnishing offices!

We're pretty crazy here too. We got a new director (the position was created) and he's causing a lot of stress and making changes that might not be good. He's screwed a lot of people over. He hasn't directly affected me, so I have no reason to not like him, but my co-workers are getting pretty pissed. I'm trying not to make any judgments about him based on teh gossip and hearsay I get. I think he might be good for the company and that the changes he's making will make us a better company as we grow, but it's hard right now. I dunno, we'll see. I'm sad though because my favorite co-worker switched departments 3 months ago, and now quit altogether. I'll miss him.

Congratulations Roz!! I hope that the "honeymoon" lasts a very long time. It's always nice to enjoy going into work. I had a job like that once. I, unfortunately, got layed off because of the economy, but to this day it is the absolute BEST place i've ever worked!! They really treated their employees well and were really big on telling people that they were doing a good job. They also had the mentality of "work hard from 8-5, the GO HOME!! Enjoy your life outside of work!". I don't think that very many companies care all that much about their employees. It's sad. I'm so glad you're enjoying your new job.

Yeah Roz!! Your new job sounds great!! I am surprised you put up with all that at your old job as long as you did. I think I would have quit on the spot if I had to cancell my vacation.. I looked up the website too... is there another link?
