My cousin, Michelle, from Tulsa, called to tell us that her husband, Howard, had been shot twice today in a botched bank robbery attempt. He was shot once in the shoulder, and another bullet grazed his head. The shoulder wound was the more serious, but it did not hit any organs or major arteries. The head wound was just a graze, and only required stitches. His outlook is generally positive, he's not out of the woods yet, at last update an infection was spreading throughout his body. The bank president and a teller were also hit by bullets. The president is in stable condition, and he'll be fine. The teller was still in surgery and her outlook is so-so. The worst thing about this is that it happened at a bank that only does commercial accounts. There was *no money* kept at the premesis! Stuped moron! If you're going to knock over a bank, make sure it's bank that actually has MONEY!!! I'll update when I find out more about his condition.

Gosh!! I'm so sorry to hear that!! That is crazy!! Is he a police officer or did he just happen to be at the bank at the wrong time? I hope that he is well soon. He'll be in my prayers. Tanya

The 26 year-old teller died yesterday afternoon. The bank president sustained multiple gunshot wounds and he is still alive, and I believe he is expected to live. Howard is recovering well, and is doing great. He's been cracking jokes, and asked for a Wendy's hamburger last night. He's out of the worst, and is expected to make a full recovery. We got the whole story this morning too. The robbers went into this bank, which, again, does commercial accounts only and doesn't keep cash on hand like regular banks, and demanded money. When the teller gave all the cash she had (not much!) they got pissed and demanded the vault to be opened, so the bank president goes to open the vault and it has a feature where you unlock it, and there's a 15 minute delay before it will actually open. The robbers got seriously pissed at the delay and started shooting. This is when the bank president and the teller sustained their multiple gunshots. Howard walks in at this point in the robbery and they fire at him, hitting him in the shoulder and then, aiming for his head, hit him again. He laid on the floor and played dead so they'd quit shooting. The president, the teller and Howard were the only witnesses, no one else was involved. There was another employee who was in a back room and managed to sneak away when the robbers first showed up and call 911 from another office in the building. The bank is on the second floor of an office building, and it took ambulances 20 minutes to get there because of it's obscure location. I don't know what the hell these idiots were thinking. Obviously they weren't! And didn't do their research before hand! As of this morning the Tulsa police have two suspects in custody. They now get to face multiple charges.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Wow--I am so sorry. I spent 17 years in banking and know how dangerous it is. We once had a guy hand a stick up note on the back of his Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) bill. It was easy to find him! |

An update: Howard got released to go home today! We were suprised it was so soon, but he's doing so well he was allowed to go home as long as he takes it easy. His blood amount isn't quite where the docs want it to be, but he is stable enough to continue his recovery at home! Very happy news.
