$5.00 Gifts

I got invited to the neighborhood cookie exchange this year. I am supposed to bring 2 dz. cookies (not a problem) and two $5.00 gifts. Since it is my first time, I would like to impress. I am not good in large social situations, and generally avoid them, so I have no idea what type of gifts to take. So, I need ideas... creative, cute, impressive ideas please.

Hmm, that's hard, is it for families or just other women? I'd say a gift card to Blockbuster or a good ice cream place like Cold Stone, or a car wash, or a small basket w/ popcorn and movie treats, or for a $5 pizza place or something. That's about all I can think of, I hope you have a good time!

Just a quick thought- Target sells these super soft comfy socks (kind of lounging type socks) and they are $4.99 I believe. They are made of THE softest material and they come in all sorts of colors. I bought these for some friends last year and they loved them!

Michelle also had some good ideas too! I'll post more if I can think of anything...

If you have a TJ Maxx or Marshall's near you, they have neat picture frames, candles, journals, holiday hand towels for the bathroom, holiday dishtowels, packs of cocktail napkins and ornaments all in the $5 range.

It is all women... mainly house wifes. I made my cookies today, which turned out great, I have to say. I like the Marshall's idea, that is what my Mom said too. It is on the other side of town, but I have two weeks to get there.

If I am told a $5.00 gift, to me that means get a really awesome gift on 75% clearance, that is marked down to $5.00. So, does $5.00 literally mean $5.00? I just do not want to embarrass myself.

By the way, I am usually not this insecure... and in general could care less what someone thinks of me, but our kids all play together, and I want to make a good impression, since I don't plan on moving anytime soon.

So if you go to Marshall's and get something for $5 that is in Macy's for $10, sobeit. You said you wanted some nice ideas and I'm sure you can find something that meets your needs. But hurry before it's all gone--they are buying less and less each year so that little is left over for the 75% discounts!

The baby just got some of those socks as part of a gift... you are correct, they are incredibly soft. Lots of good ideas, thank you! Now, I just need to find the time to get to the stores. We only live 2 miles from most of them, but it is hard with all the kids. Thank you!

What my mom and I usually do is go to a craft store (like Jo-Anne's) because they put all of their cute decorations onto clearance. You can get some adorable Christmas stuff for pretty cheap.

Done and done...

One of my friends did my shopping for me, God bless her. Christmas towel set and a Christmas candle. Neither sounds terribly creative, but they are both cute and were on sale, plus she got another discount. Thank you for your ideas. I am doing a Secret Santa too... the ideas are helpful.
