| Nah, I'm not so tough. The first time I smashed a finger hard enough to need that treatment it was at work, and my finger had got caught in a cargo door of my airplane. I didn't say anything to my crew about it, and I was up until 2am with my finger in a bucket of ice bawling on the phone to Bill until he finally convinced me to go to the hospital. The finger (my right thumb actually, in that incident) was not broken. The doc took a sodering pen and basically burned a small hole in that nail. Instantaneous & painless, and boy did it feel better! It was good to have a doc do it the first time, so I know that it really doesn't hurt, and it takes away that awful painful pressure! My dad offered me his exact-o knife, or a "nice sharp brand-new drill bit" to do the job with, but I stuck with one of my mom's nice small sewing needles! It worked just fine. Sometimes you have to do it again, I had to do mine again this morning. But it is SO worth the ickiness (and it is kind of creepy actually drilling a hole in your own fingernail) to make it feel better. Ah, the things I learn being from a farming community! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Amber, that is way gross. Just fyi... This past weekend John and I went to Chicago to celebrate my (almost) being done with my spring semester of Italian. We drove out on saturday morning and went to the aquarium and that was way super cool, and then went to the cheesecake factory for dinner, watched the sun set from the top of the hancock building and then took a horse drawn carriage ride around the city. Very romantic! 8) Sunday we went to the museum of science and industry and spent like 6 hours there. very cool stuff!! They had an old 727 there that was donated by United so you can guess where John wanted to hang out most of the day!! There was also a guy there dressed in a Pilot's uniform and John and I both thought he was just some museum employee acting the part of a pilot so i told john to be nice cause i figured he was going to go and try to make this guy look like an ass for not knowing anything but it turns out this pilot is really a united pilot for the 727 (now some airbus) but that was pretty neat. I guess United has pilots who volunteer to go down there for 4 hours each day on their off days to talk to the public about the plane and answer questions. This week I don't have any class but my final for Italian is on Thursday so wish me luck! I can't believe I've almost completed two semesters worth of college Italian in 7 weeks. the other really neat thing about that is when we were at the science museum they had a room set up with different tv's from around the world so I dialed into the Italian station and understood pretty much everything they were talking about. I was impressed!! My grandparents are coming to visit this week from NH but they're staying with my parents so I'll end up seeing them this weekend ok I guess that is all for my life! have a good week everyone!! |

| All the travel you guys are doing... my little life is contained within the walls of this house. And my internet connection. Ok, I'm a little ticked about something. Kristie mentioned all the drama in the Family Korner... well, this morning I woke up from one of those HORRIBLE dreams we women sometimes have. I blame that bitch, DG. You know the dreams... (please, oh please don't let me be the only one) It's when life-as-you-know-it explodes. These dreams are SO REALISTIC (unlike my normal dreams). Sometimes the dream is that a loved one dies, or that my dad is still alive, or that my sister hates me for some reason... but this one was of Mark cheating on me. He knew I knew about it, and HE DIDN'T CARE. Complete ambivilence (did I spell that right?) which was nearly as painful as the act itself. AND, he was on his way to go get more. I was sobbing, beggin him not to go, and he just looked at me & left. I woke up with tears pouring out of my eyes, literally FEELING the emotions even though it wasn't real. These kinds of dreams wreck my whole day! Other than that... Mark is still in upgrade training, and will be in/out of training until the 3rd week of July. I miss him so much I just want to cry. Part of that may be post-partum hormones kicking around, but mostly I just miss that big dork. This new baby is 25 days old, and Mark's been gone more than half his life (not that the baby's old enough to know, but still). I considered flying to Salt Lake to see him, but the thought of flying with two kids, two carseats, all by myself... fills me with dread. Plus, we'd be too distracting for him & he wouldn't be able to study. The toddler is back to sleeping in her crib, by her choice. Frankly, I'd rather she sleep in her crib after walking into her room the other night. She wasn't sleeping, making all kinds of ruckus (throwing books). When I went in there, she had taking off her pajama pants, her diaper and one sock. The other sock was wet... because she peed down her leg and onto the floor. I started Atkins on Sunday, and I'll tell you, I'm not liking my donut-free life right now. I am back in my pre-pregnancy clothes, and my pants are actually looser than before I got pregnant with the the first baby (yeah!) but they're still (a few sizes) bigger than I'd like. Michelle-did you go to BYU? Is that how you ended up in Utah, or did the family move away from there? Good luck on your flights with Caleb. Christine-good luck on the job interview. Kristie-Doug mentioned (in another thread) how your friend comments about your guys' lifestyle. That makes me mad, too. How jealous can you get? It's not as though it fell into your lap, like lottery winners. You guys worked hard for your lifestyle, and make sacrifices to go off and do the things you want. You need new friends! |

| Don't let other people's problems become your own! Nightmares are awful, but in the end, they're just dreams. I've had some 'interesing' dreams of my own, one involving an ex from Bill's past that particularly disturbing, but for weeks I had to keep reminding myself it was just a dream. Ground school will be over with soon! I can't imagine having two little ones.....we're starting trying for #2, and I'm positivly terrified! |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | ok... so then my question would be (and it's just one of those "stupid girl type questions").. but if your terrified about #2.. then why have #2 other than a sibling for #1? You are one brave woman if you can drill into your own nail like that.. I know i'd need to have someone else do it AND put me down for it.. i'm such a baby when it comes to pain! I couldn't imagine even having to deliver a baby.. ack!! I'm already feeling for my sister! haha Emily - what channel did you get into? it's interesting how similar spanish and italian are.. after a while, it got to be so easy to speak it.. but understanding it is another thing because the italians over there have a pretty heavy accent AND talk super fast...good luck on the final - maybe you can start a class here and teach us italian for when we all go over to Italy or New York - right girls?! haha Michelle - your sis is gonna be going to BYU? that'll be nice having her closer.. then all you have to do is convince your mom to move out of fla.. right? hahaha when are you guys going to be over there? isn't she in daytona? My sister and her hubby will be moving up to orlando in the next few months (as soon as they sell & find a house)... Barb - don't let those things get to you!! all you have to do is wake up and say "ahhh.. just a dream and a brand new day" and go for that cup of java! you said previously "You need new friends".. which is part of why I created this board... so I could find some new women friends who are in a sense "just like me" and can relate! unfortunately, I don't know any other pilot wives except for Amanda here and I haven't yet been able to hang out and chat with her.. guess I better get on that, now that i'm back from vacation...hahaha It sounds like little Annika may be needing more attention? not to pry in (if you don't mind?).. but...Isn't it true that when kids go backwards, they want to be babies again and be treated like their the #1 baby? maybe little "eat me up" Annika is having sibling jitters where new baby is getting some of Annika time and she just hasn't gotten used to it yet? might help her to know that she's a big girl and that momma needs her help which might help her get back into her own bed and feeling more confident about having baby brother in da hoose... i dunno - i don't have kids, but it's just a thought cuz i've heard of others having that type of problem when new baby comes around. Christine - crossing my fingers for you girl... go knock em dead on that interview!! and then come back and tell us what happened! I'd be interested in knowing how they interviewed since there are all the different types out there now and since I haven't interviewed in a good 3 years and just might have to get back out there stomping the pavement in the near future. |

| The interview went well I think. I was 5 minutes late but she didn't say anything. I met with the supervisor, who is absolutely a kick. She's funny and open and loud and a lot like me. And then I met with 5 or 6 members of the tech support group. There was one guy from Aspen. Way Cool!! They all seem like a bunch of really cool people to work with; they all have such drastically different personalities. One lady was very quiet and reserved, and another was fun and outgoing and happy and smiley. One guy was so cynical and almost bitter about everything. One lady said, "Unofficially, welcome." So I think I have a good shot. I think I'll find out tonight or tomorrow. I've accepted that if I don't get the job that it's God's will. We've been doing OK financially so far. A real job with real money would be awesome, but we'll make do with what God gives us. I almost didn't get up this morning. I forgot why I had set my alarm for so early. And then I didn't have nylons so I couldn't wear my skirt. So I wore my pants, but they weren't ironed. Then I couldn't find a shirt. And Eric didn't approve of my choice so I yelled at him and we had a huge fight this morning. I threw all my clothes all over the room. I feel so bad. Maybe if I don't get the job I should go buy an "interview outfit" so this doesn't happen again. -------------------------------------------- I know what you mean about the drilling the nail relieving the pressure. I have an ingrown toenail and have to go in and pull it out every couple weeks. It hurts so bad to do it, but when it's done I can put pressure on my toe again. So Eric is almost done with phase I of his instrument training. He is ready to take his sim stage check. His instructor put in a request for a stage check and got a note that said, "Stage checks are only available M-F from 11:30-1:45." But, um, Eric has class from 11:30-2:30, so how exactly is he supposed to do a stage check?? :? Did I tell y'all that my car got stolen?? Yeah - it sucks. We're over our days on our rental car too; the insurance company will pay for up to 10 days and we're on day 12 now! I better get this job, I'll need the money to pay for this darn rental car! |

| I'm terrified of having #2 for the same reason I was terrified of having #1! Just fear of the unknown, knowing it'll be a big adjustment. We knew we wanted 2 kids, we both had a sibling growing up. I know we'll never be 'ready' for baby #2, nobody is really ever "ready" to be a parent, I don't think there's a 'perfect' time to have a baby. We just knew we wanted kids, and we knew it would be a huge lifestyle change, but it's what we wanted. I love Alex so much, he's such a wonderful baby & I couldn't imagine life without him now! I don't know if that makes sense or not....just rambling |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | makes perfect sense... that's all i've been hearing for the past couple of years.. your never financially ready, your never emotionally ready.. you just have to jump in and realize it's new territory... altho with #2, I would think you'd be more comfortable since you had #1 and know more or less what to expect right? it's probably just the idea of siblings that is uncharted territory... Dang Christine - your car got stolen? that blows!! at least you weren't there when it happened though, that could have been so much worse! what's the insurance company say so far? do they have to wait until it's found or are you going to get an opportunity to get a new car? I always have an interview outfit around - just never know when your going to need one and it makes life much easier the day of the interview... interviews themselves are enough stress!! |

| The car was recovered, but vandelized. It's currently in the shop getting fixed. We don't know how long that will take. The CD player and the amplifier were also stolen. :x It was really weird to walk out to our parking space under the building and have our car NOT be there. Eric said, "Where'd you leave the car?" But he was the last one to drive - he picked me up from work the night before. I kept thinking that maybe we took bart and left it at a bart station or something. I really miss my car.
