I haven't been around in a while. I am trying to get my 7 month old to learn to sleep and stop co-sleeping! DH has been gone after having 9 days off, came home for 1 day and is back out for another 10, well he will be home on the 21st, it was 10 days when he left. He will then be off for about 11 days, but we have to go to court for my stepson and my Suburban, thankfully is still under warranty, is leaking transmission fluid!!!! It is only 2 years old so we are taking a road trip to northern Idaho to the dealership we got it at for them to take a look. So another rushed group of days off! Our weather has been great for 3 days but of course when DH has a night off in between trips, could commute in to Boise but not enough time to come all the way home, it is supposed to snow! UGH!
Valentine's Day will be me and my 2 little men. At least my 2 yo likes to tell me he loves me!

Lori, I'm with you! I'm spending Valentines day with my two ds. Yesterday was my wedding anniversary which I spent at the beach with my dks and my friend and her little girl. My 5 yo likes to light candles when we eat dinner, last night he had me light the candle and he told me I had to put 'fancy restaurant' music on. I put the tv on a classical station and we ate a very peaceful dinner, except for the 18m old yelling!!! Looks like we'll be doing the same thing tomorrow night.

[quote:9068df3cd1="lrcantrell"]I've been gone for awhile as well. Everytime I would check this website it would say no new posts, then I realized when I converted to our new computer it wasn't signing me in...opps!
As to the driving question, my dh is a horrible driver! No violations, accidents, etc. which is amazing but I swear he thinks he's driving the Lear down the runway rather than our car!
I'm alone tonight as well. dh company had him in New York for 2 weeks, he came home yesterday morning and they shipped him back this afternoon until the 18th. Will I ever get used to this? He's applied to quite a few airlines hoping to get something that has more regular schedules. One of his friends works for america west and he's home 4 days/week everyweek guaranteed! How wonderful would that be!!![/quote:9068df3cd1]

My DH works for AWA, been there since 1985. I know they are hiring so if that is where he wants to be, I hope he gets it. I have to say that their schedules are not guaranteed though. I mean they bid for them, it is a computer bidding system which in my opinion, since I do DH's bid each month and am working on it now, stinks, and they know their schedule in advance for what s now a 30 day bid month, thanks to the new LOVELY contract they have. That LOVELY is VERY sarcastic I might add. Anyway, my DH does his schedule so that he is off at the beginning and end of each bid period and he loads the middle. Like now he is gone for 10 days, has one day off in that time but can't make his commuter flight home. My DH is VERY senior and he sometimes doesn't get what he wants, so I just wanted to clarify that they are not guaranteed to have 4 days off in a row each weeks. It strictly depends on how the bid falls.
I sure hope that your DH gets the job he wants and a schedule that both of you can live with soon. It is VERY hard. Take care, Lori

My Valentine's night will be spent at work.

Eric flies at 12:30, so he has to plan his flight in the morning.

So we'll have about 2 hours together between his flight and my work. :?

We've never really done V day before, but I thought it would be nice to have [i:a77e38ec63]some[/i:a77e38ec63] quality time together. Maybe we'll make Monday our V-day. I don't work, and for some reason I'm thinking he won't fly.

On Tuesday he does his cross country check ride.

Thanks for the info. I just called my dh to let him know that the picture he was painted doesn't sound as rosey as the actual thing and he said he already knew that. What he told me was that it's still better than his schedule right now. What he's doing now is working (and gone) 24 days/month with 7 hard days off. How many hard day/month does your dh get? He has not heard anything back from them yet anyways so his hopes aren't to high of even getting a call back. One of his good friends flies for them and he walked my dh resume in for him. I guess wherever God has planned for us to be, we'll be there and I will be grateful no matter what. My husband told me that times are changing and it pretty much sucks everywhere compared to the way things used to be. Even 12 days off/month though would be nicer that what he's doing now but I'm not going to complain, he's flying and that's all that matters.

So Eric is about to finish his private ratings. We are excited.

With bad weather, school closure for 6 weeks, and more bad weather, he's only 5 hours behind the average, which the chief flight instructor said was looking pretty good.

He started flying in October, but I think he's only flown about 3 months of the last 5.

He's getting ready to do another check ride. Sierra does 3 stage checks before the oral test before the FAA flight. (He passed his FAA written with a 97% BTW.) He's on stage 2. But...it's gotten cancelled for weather three times now. :? We're so frustrated - we want him to move on. Because of all the cancellations, his instructor got permission from the chief to move beyond stage 2 in the syllabus. Consequently, he'll be ready for stage 3 in about a week - but he hasn't even done stage 2!!

Oh well - just thought I'd share.

glad to hear he's getting close!! it brings you closer to the light at the end of the tunnel - no matter how far that tunnel may look!

No he'll still have do them seperate. The stage 3 has to be after his oral exam, and he can't do his oral until he finishes his stage 2.

But he could conceivably do them just a day or two apart if he gets his last three flights done before his stage 2. (He has one more lesson and 2 solo cross countries)

good news!!!

Eric should be in the air right now doing his check ride.

His instructor think he's ready for his stage 3 ride now too, but still needs to take the oral. He's frustrated because he doesnt know how to study for an oral exam.
