When you do your cardio stuff, do they tell you do it at a regular pace or do your do stuff in intervals? On the days I would do things on my own, I would just stay at the same pace walking on the treadmill. The trainer said it is better to go at a regular pace for several minutes, then as fast as you can for 2 minutes and then keep alternating that. She said 20 minutes of that is better than staying at the same pace for an hour. She explained it but I don't remember why. I was probably too busy trying not to faint again!

I find she has me doing the rowing machine and this other thing where you stand (sometimes she makes be try to hold a big ball between my knees to make it harder) and I guess the best way to describe it is pedal with your hands, as my 2 minute cardio intervals in between the weight stuff. I always watch what the other trainers do too to get some ideas on what to do on my own. I love to hear what others do too...any tips would be appreciated!

When I do the treadmill I do the randam setting, which alternates between hills, flats and different speeds. It's pretty cool. The elipticle will alternate too, but my legs have a hard enough time just going to same speed for two minutes much less alternating...LOL.

I tried a spinning class.....once! This was when I was in my early 20's and really good shape. It was too tough for me. On the otherhand, all the spinning instructors were super skinny!

I did a class this morning. I was supposed to be a high/low. The high was 20 minutes of spinning, the low 20 minutes of kickboxing, both of which I hate. I didn't know that's what it would be and immediately regretted it.

My butt hurt after just five minutes on that rock of a seat and the jumping up and down? forget it...LOL. I just stayed stationary. Soo not for me. I think I'll just stick with the step classes...LOL

Trista,
I am not very aerobically coordinated. I taught water aerobics back in my skinny college days, but I still could never get the step classes. Anywho, the place I worked had a muscle sculpting class that I just loved! It had a small bit of cardio, but it was mostly lifting dumbells and such. She used 3 different weight sets and said that would shock your muscles the most.

I would love to find one of those classes again

Regina,

I am one of the most uncoordinated people on earth! I feel like a big giraffe when I do the step classes! Luckily, alot of the girls in the class are my age or older and complained it was too complicated so the instructor got rid of all the fancy stuff. It's only for 20 minutes and then we do stuff like you described. Hope you can find a class again!

I'm the opposite. I can do step, but not kickboxing. Go figure.
