Default I need something to read!

I've been reading like crazy the last couple of weeks. I'm not tired of it yet. But I have run out of things to read. I am returning The Sound of Us by Sarah Willis, Some Things that Stay also by Sarah Willis, and The Book Club by Mary Alice Monroe all of which were great books IMO.

Anybody got any suggestions on a good book? Kinda looking for something around beaches or lakes and I love a good story where sisters come together or mothers and daughters finally work things out.

I just read The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux. It was wonderfully sweet, funny, and heartwarming. In looking it up for you I've found there is a sequel that I will definately be getting!

I've read The Summerhouse (and pretty much everything Jude Deveraux has written). But you are right on my track. I liked that book with it's circle of friends coming together after so many years theme. Thanks for the suggestion, anything else?

Okay how about books by Emilie Richards? I've read Touching Stars and Prospect Street. Very good reads with something about quiliting in them. Again, warm, fun reading.

I like Jennifer Weiner books. Not really like sisters coming together or anything, but good chick lit books I guess you would call them. A good summer book is a Judy Blume book I think its called Summer Sisters but I could be wrong. All of her adult books that I have read are good. I'm looking for some new ones to read too! I'm reading beach house by an author I can't remember the name of but hes really popular. Its kind of a mystery type story, its pretty good though.

That is so funny you say that. I just finished an audio book today called "Summer Island" by Kristin Hannah about a beach house and an estranged mother and daughter working out their differences.

I thought it was just AWFUL... way too sappy, unrealistic, and no character formation of any kind. I suppose this isn't a good recommendation. I guess I just thought it was funny I just finished a book that is a lot like you described...

For a real reccomendation close to what you described, try "Up Island" by Anne Rivers Siddons. It was a pretty good read.

I also love Terry McMillen books, Tracy Chevaliar, and Amy Tan. Any book i've picked up of those authors, I've enjoyed.

Ooh, Ann Rivers Siddons...I used to love her. (I say "used to" because I haven't read her lately - not because I no longer like her.)

Another vote for Jennifer Weiner. Her first is "Good in Bed" and the next is "In Her Shoes". Great books.

I also like Emily Giffin: "Something Borrow" "Something Blue" and "Baby Proof" are also great books.

Nicholas Sparks writes great stories too!

I really liked Summer Island and all the other Kristin Hannah books that I have read. I suppose that I am just a sap.

Jennifer Weiner & Nicholas Sparks , I'm already a big fan of. I've not read a lot by Anne Rivers Siddons. I've never heard of Emilie Richards, Emily Giffin, Terry McMillen or Tracy Chevaliar. So those guys are going on list. Thank you, thank you for the suggestions!

I ended up with Summer at Blue Lake by Jill Althouse-Wood, a couple by Catherine King (a friend raved about her), and a couple by Karen White. I will let you know if there is any real winners in the bunch. I also picked Sleeping Beauty by Phillip Margolin in case I get tired of being a sap.

I also picked up The Gravedigger's Daughter by Joyce Carol Oates. Totally doesn't fit my current criteria but it is set in Chautauqua Falls, New York. And since hubby works for Chautauqua, it peaked my interest.

Thank you, thank you for all the reading suggestions. I don't really read books, I consume them. So it is hard to keep up with demand when I get on a reading freenzy!

I was just in Walgreens and my store has really added to its 2 hardbacks for $10 buck table! I got Nora Roberts, Patricia Cornell At Risk, Tom Clancy, Sandra Brown, and those are just the ones I recognized. They had all sorts of books. I stocked up for DH (okay and for me)
