| Dh's best friend from high school and his wife and 3 kids are staying with us for 5 days. The kids are 2,4,and 7ish. I'm not sure what to do the kids don't seem to be that well behaved and since they are his friends kids I don't feel like its my place to say "Hey your kids are laying on the floor in the restraunt do somthing about it" Neither do I feel right about yelling at them while their parents are sitting there...Does anyone have any suggestions? I just keep trying to avoid them and keep busy by running errands and what not, because I know that they will leave soon.

| I think I'd just smile and be counting down until they left and be thankful they aren't your kids! Next time if they want to visit, have an excuse ready. I absolutely hate when people let their kids walk and crawl around restaurants! Not only is it dirty, it's annoying to other people. I guess some parents think it's cute for their kids to wander up to other people's tables etc....and hey if they are laying under the table they aren't bothering their parents right??? ![]() |

| That's a tough situation to be in. My recommendation is to let the parents handle it. I know it's embarassing, but they might be offended if you said anything to their kids. Now if they're about to break something of yours or do something in your home that you find unacceptable, you have every right to say something... but make sure you say it in a nice way and don't yell (I know, easier said than done LOL!). Good luck! It'll be over soon!!! |

| I don't know how much you can do about the restraunt, but in my family the kids follow the rules at whoevers house they are at. Example, my brother doesn't tolerate as much noise as I do, and when all of the cousins are his house he tells them this is my house rules so you will act like this while you are here. I have used the same line ( a little more PC) for when kids are at my house and crossing the line while the parents sit by. (we have a little friend that is a door SLAMMER) I guess his mother has learned to tune him out.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Whew, thank goodness it is Friday! I hope you coped well...speaking of children, an old friend of BF's came over with his son about 5, normally I wouldn't want to offend parents, cause first of all I don't have kids, but he was being rough with Kenzie (my 6lb maltese), and I had to tell him "it's not ok to pretend punch her in the face!!"

| At least he was just pretending! But I know what you mean we have an 11 year old malamute mix and I ended up taking him with me when I went out because I was afraid of the kids trying to ride him or pull on his tail!
