| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | OMG I would have been LIVID if we had been there for a couple years and then put in apps to majors and got turned down. I think that would have really put me over the point of no return. Honestly I'm kind of bugged with dh for not knowing, I feel like I've done a lot more of the info-seeking than I should have to over the years. I don't think there are many industries where spouses have to be THIS involved in the decision making. We did talk to Stan and we are just waiting to find out if they are hard on the 50 ME. If not, he could get hired right now. If they are, we are really going to be between a rock and a hard place because FIL is adamant that dh take the Scenic job because it's a sure thing, where I feel like he'd be better to turn it down and bust out the other 19 ME hours in a couple of weeks and then apply to Eagle. Since FIL is the one that has funded this entire endeavor, we can't really "upset"/"disagree" with him. But I think it would be a step backwards to go to Scenic to get the ME hours and then have to pay to break the contract to go to a regional from there. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | i think you are spot on with that assessment Michelle! I think that Corbin should just grab his last couple of ME hours at UVSC(or wherever) and then skedaddle to Eagle (or Pinnacle - talk with Kellwolf about that, I'm not sure if they have a ME requirement or not) |

| Sounds like a plan. I didn't realize the PIC time from Scenic wouldn't count.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Well we lost the arguement with FIL. Corbin will be at Scenic on Monday and I'll be staying here with the kids. Since we aren't in as much of a rush now, he'll stay until he gets his 100 ME and then put in for Skywest. If the pool at Skywest is going to be waaaaay long at that point, then he might also look at AE or someone else. If not, he'll just stay at Scenic until Skywest puts him in a class. With gas prices as they are, we'll only be able to see him probably every 2-3 weeks. And he might only be there for 3-4 months depending on what Skywest is doing, but FIL would rather pay to break his contract then have him risk not getting the Scenic job while holding out for something else. Whatever. It's out of my hands and our input doesn't count. At least he isn't leaving for a 9 month tour in Iraq or something. |

| Wow, Michelle, how frustrating to have FIL have so much say in your lives. However, even with DH gone for a few months, it does kind of sound like a pretty good plan. Where will your DH be staying? Will there be room for you guys once school is out (when does school end there?) I will tell you that not everybody winds up on reserve when entering a regional. In Aug 06 (and of course things are constantly changing) DH started at SkyWest. He was put in the Brazilla (30 pax prop plane) and based out of Palm Springs, CA. Since no one really wants to be in PSP he had a line from the start. Of course there were challenges -we found a man to rent a room from b/c it wasn't commutable, and b/c it wasn't commutable he was gone six days at a time for four day trips. It was rough in its own way but better than being on reserve. The first year everybody gets paid the same whether they are in the Brazilla or the CRJ. After a year he put in for the Jet and Denver and got both! Its been a godsend for us and totally doable. So, take heart in having a specific plan. Yes there are questions of what the industry will be like in a few months but that will always be the case. Yes, it will totally be a challenge having DH gone especially with three kids but IT CAN BE DONE. The good news is that you don't have to move and you have family there to help. Thinking of you Jackie

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Yeah the price you pay for having financial help is you don't get to make as many of the decisions. Oh well, FIL is hard to deal with sometimes, but he's never let us go w/o anything so I guess it's worth it. For now he gets to stay w/ his Aunt that lives there, and if she doesn't get her house sold soon, we could all stay there while it's up for sale, so we could maybe spend some of the summer with him if it's not sold. |
