I am pretty sure SkyW is making an aggressive bid to acquire it (and they also tried to buy xjet this morning but that's a whole 'nother can of worms!). If SkyW gets that Mesa flying, they're going to end up hiring like gangbusters here in June or July (as will whoever gets the Mesa flying) but beware of the Mesa PILOTS who are all going to be heading out for jobs then too! It's almost better to jump in ahead of those guys (if possible) and then hope that your regional is the one getting the flying and hiring and all those guys will then be below you and provide you with a bit of a cushion.

*note* This is all PURE speculation on my part (and a little bit of John's) so take it for what it's worth!
Hey Michelle- sorry for my late 'chime-in'!

I want to second what Emily and John said of Mesa. Nick was there and still has a bunch of friends still with the company. They will definitely go under in the near future! They are in so much debt and have lost a lot of flying.

Good luck with everything! We're all pulling for you guys!

michelle, this was a year ago, but Lance was based out of fresno, and was transferred to slatlake before he even got out of training. He did reserve out of Saltlake, which was hard on us, but would be great for you.

I agree with you about how difficult it is to make decisions in this industry. We are also struggling with how to advance to the next level. Like others have said, we were told that CA time would be "x" amount of time, how ever its not quite panning out that way. We can move to the left seat, but we would be sitting reserve again. Which is hard when you commute, and for QOL.

Good luck, hope you guys get the answers you are looking for. I know that we rely so much on the help of those who have go before us.

Sorry I gave you a poor suggestion Michelle. I forgot about Mesa's financial situation.

Eric and I wish Corbin and you all the best at Scenic and with your move. I'm sure everything will work out just fine for all of you! We know how hard these decisions are especially in this industry. We're here for you if you ever need us!!!

Well now that we know that the PIC hours aren't going to help that really changes things. The only reason to move the whole family was because it was close enough for visits home, and because the plan was to do it for 2-3 years to skip the regionals. I feel like every time we get a game plan something changes. Since those hours aren't really going to count in helping to skip the majors, it's not worth it to go to Scenic to upgrade.

So now we just have to figure out if he should cancel his class date of May 6th in hopes to get a job with Eagle or Pinnacle, or he could keep instructing until Skywest will take him (and then we are in more debt.) or what. I don't know. All I know is that I've never felt any sense of security and stability in our marriage and it's really starting to take a toll.

Michelle, I can SOOO sympathize with how hard this is. I was telling DH last night that Corbin as at the hardest stage of the game right now. Instructing SUCKS!! And it's so hard financially, and it's probably the hardest transition out of. I know how hard it was on DH and I when he was instructing and we were only dating!! And every decision you make in this industry can have an effect on your next step, etc., etc. so it's important to have an "end goal" even if it's as general as working for a major, or flying corporate, etc. Then you can come up with a game plan to reach that goal.

We wish you guys the best of luck with such a difficult decision....

I think it makes more sense to go with Scenic. Theres nothing quite like that Captain PIC time. You both will have more options once he has it.

Hi, by the way, I havent "met" you yet, but Im new here. My BF used to fly for ASA. He was there almost three years and probably would have maybe just upgraded. Then it would have taken him at least a year/ year and a half to get the time he needed to apply to the majors.

Instead he went to a job fair in DC, it costed like $150, but he was interviewed there by Spirit Airlines and is now based at home, flying a bigger plane, and should be upgrading in a few years. He has put his upgrading date back a few years and it makes me nervous because it can really limit him to where he can apply.

I don't have any kids, but I pay all my own bills for school, car, phone, rent, etc... so I know how it feels to be overwhelmed with bills. I also, have no family here and most of my friends have moved back to NY. I know that if I didn't have my BF here I would be gone. The best thing is to try and learn about your new area. There are so many free resources in communities like parks, libraries, museums, etc.

If your husband can get on somewhere and get his captain time relatively quickly, he should do it. Th industry seems very unstable so the sooner he can get time the better. Good luck with whatever you two make!

Well thanks to the info from you guys about the PIC time not being valid for the majors, it really doesn't make sense to move our family there. The question now is does he get on w/ Scenic and get out as soon as Skywest will take him or what. We are seeing if Eagle is firm on their 50 ME, if they aren't he could maybe just go there. So good news is I don't have to move, bad news is, once again we have a game plan and once again it didn't work lol.

but, it's better it didn't work out NOW rather than a year or two down the line!! Have you guys talked to Stan (Ready2Fly) at all yet? I know John texted him and said to expect something from you! He said he would do what he could for Corbin!!
