Yes, I do think tatoos and such are a generation thing. I think they are very popular among 20 and 30 somethings, maybe even 40 somethings...? When it is time to go to a retirement home, someone will probably be the odd one out if they don't have a tatoo. : )

I think I like the idea of piercings though because they can come out....although, someone was getting their tatoo removed on here weren't they? What ever happened with that?

i want to get a tat after my wedding too, only...i'm not engaged and there's definitely no wedding date. if i get married to this one i've come up with a funky design for what would be my new initials. my initials would be faf, so, i figured i could do something with that. if i make it funky enough no one would know it was initials. now, where to put it is another story. i like wrist tats a WHOLE lot.

I have wanted a tatoo since I was 18, and I am now 33. At the time, I was dating someone that was an artist, and he drew a pic of the tatoo that I wanted. I don't know if I still have it, not that I am getting it, but it was a cross with a daisy wrapped around it. I still like it, but after over 10 years, I couldn't do it. I used to have my ear pierced all the way up; I could probably do that again. I would like to do the cartlidge again, but again, I don't know if I could or not, meaning I might chicken out even though it didn't hurt the first time. I am hoping to lose my weight after this pregnancy, so maybe I will do it as I am getting a new wardrobe! : ) Had my belly button pierced too, and if I lose weight to get back to my normal weight, that will definetly be pierced again....I think my normal weight is wishful thinking though. I tend to lose 50, and then I stay put. BUT, this time, my ob's office offers a shot that you get every week that helps with appetite supressing and a weight loss program. So, my plan is to lose the 50, which should take me about 4 months. Stop nursing, if I decide to do that, and then go on that diet. If I lose enough, I am buying a new wardrobe, not getting pregnant, and making a few changes in appearance (earring, belly ring, hair, etc.). Still don't think I can do anything permanent like the tatoo though....maybe something that is like a hynea tatoo that goes away to see if I like it before anything major or such. Yeah, I would definelty try one of those before something permanent. I do have a scar from the belly ring that tends to show up even more in the pregnancy, but oh-well.

Wow, I guess I am out of the norm! I only have my ears pierced (just one hole in each ear, let the extra one from my "wild" days close up) and no tattoos! I have no desire for any of either and don't find them attractive in any way. What a prude!!!!! Or maybe just too old!

regina, you are my hero. i say go for it! maybe get your tattoo idea put on a temp tattoo and wear it around a bit? that'd be neat!

good luck with the weight loss. i need to be more active. i don't neceessarily want to lose weight, but i want to gain muscle. i used to be in really good shape but now...kinda flabby despite being "skinny." maybe i'll get a new piercing, dye my hair burgundy (like it used to be) and start yoga. i'm such a liberal tree hugger at heart! it's great to see your vitual smiles on here, btw!

Speaking of coloring hair. I think that I am going to go closer to my natural hair color...UGH!
I just figure then maybe I won't have to color it every two months. We will see how it goes. SO has only seen me with black hair and my natural color is dirty blond. I am not sure how that will turn out.
Cross your fingers

After reading about everyone's tats and piercings, I feel the need to start a picture thread on the topic so we can all show off! It'll have to wait until I'm home from work, though, because my connection here is soooo slooooooow...

your answer just made me remember this:

My boss (Dr. Forred) made a comment the other day to my DD, we were talking about tatoos and he told her that if she got a rose above her breast cuz that is where she was saying she wanted to get one) that when she gets old it would turn in to a long stemmed rose
