| Okay I have about a week and a half of work left before I move to PA. I gave my notice on the 8th of this month so that they would have plenty of time to find a replacement that I could train. They are actually moving someone up from my department so that is great because she already knows so it won't be that bad. Now that I am leaving though I find that I am having a hard time working or getting motivated to do anything. I feel bad but I don't know how to get out of this 'rut' that I am in. People have said that you get this way right before you leave. I just don't know if there is anything I can do to change that and work or what not. I mean I will be training my replacement for the next week and a half so things that I am doing I am going to have her do so I am just going to be sitting here doing nothing but maybe answer questions if she has them ![]() I just feel so 'blah' about it all I guess. |

What you're living right now is old hat, not the new exciting unknown that lies ahead for you guys in PA. Its a big game of hurry up and wait! I say use the time productively in other ways. For example, when I assumed the role of my current job, the woman I was replacing was exactly in your shoes. Sure, she had a few odds and ends projects to finish up, but aside from my questions, she was pretty bored and anxious. So she used the time to do a lot of coordinating for their new house in FL. She used the time to create change of address forms. Etc ... It may seem immoral and unethical, but so is just sitting there w/ no results. I'm excited for you! Your situation reminds me a lot of myself 4 years ago! Go get 'em Tiger!! ![]() |

I would be doing something, then I would stop and think, "Wait, I just don't give a damn!" But why should you be totally into doing something when your "new life" somewhere else lies ahead of you? Don't feel bad about it! |

| Try to stay focused and continue to work hard until you're done. Just remember, you will be leaving the company soon, but your employment record will follow you everywhere. Don't "I do give a damn" because that could be noted and come back to haunt you someday. Good luck. Jen Last edited by czechmate; 02-21-2008 at 07:38 AM. Reason: spelling |
