I can see where that leads to a problem. I, too, look at the picture on the front to form a picture in my mind of what I am reading. Wow...I wouldn't know how to get something like that fixed.

If it makes you feel any better, I would choose a book with the guy that you have on the cover a lot faster than the blonde guy. I think the cover guy you have is a lot better looking. Oh, and I didn't realize he was black until the photo of him in the jeans. The cover of your book makes him look somewhat middle eastern or maybe a mix to me. So, I wouldn't think it was about an interracial relationship, even though I guess even a middle eastern and blonde woman would probably be considered interracial too.

I know that who is nicer looking isn't the point; I, too, would be mad, especially if I filled out something that said exactly what I wanted.

By the way, do you have photos of the models that you will eventually get to choose from before you write your books? or do you just see someone that you kind of get your ideas for looks?

But you are correct. He doesn't fit the bill on what you described and requested. I, too, have looked at the cover and thought "what were they thinking?" but until reading your post I never considered how it probably bothers the author as much as it bothers the reader.

Can you keep the photos coming? I think that it could make this thread the most viewed thread EVER.

Trista, maybe in the future you can use cover art that does not portray the characters' identities. This will allow the reader to only use their imagination and not be lead astray by someone else's interpretation. Given the content of the novel, some seductive sexual symbols on the cover would still attract readers: e.g.: candles, roses, lingerie, or even a male/female body cropped in a way that faces aren't revealed.

it would be easier to use a cover like that (without the models) but IMO, I like it when the models are on there... it screams "STEAMY" to me and helps attract me to the book...it's like the books with the candles or just artsy fartsy look along with pre-story description on the back don't really portray what the book is about whereas the look of the front cover and the pre-story on the back help the reader to see if she's going to be interested in the overall plot before buying.

I usually have a picture in my mind of what the character looks like before I start writing. BUt when it comes time to do the cover, Elloras has 12 models, or cavemen as they like to call them, that they use for covers and we can usually pick one of them that comes close to our character or they'll use a stock photo. But they were way off the mark with his one.

Unfortunately, I heard from on high this morning, the book has already gone to print, so I'm stuck with it.
